Is this a Grandad mobile? I saw it, liked it and bought it. I still have my z, and NOTHING can touch it for style at all, never, no way. But I liked, SHOCK, the sedate yet POWERFUL drive.

Shall I go and put my slippers on now. And no, I'd doesn't smell of Dunhill in there.

Only person ive ever seen on here with one was a cockend, so because of him i dont like the soararse!!!;)

eh, sonny? what was that? me hearing aid is playing up. A big black one.

2.5tt.

4.0 V8 is supposed to be bullet-proof isn't it? but the twin turbo 'approaches' the power of a z tt? It's supposed to be my everyday comfortable cruiser so I can tap my fingers on the stearing wheel to some jazz while driving to work. I was trying to look for a 'sensible' work-type car. But I bought Van Doonican's race-mobile instead.

Oh dear. I suppose I could have got a z tt but the wife would NEVER have fallen for that. She is quite canny really. But she has been totally duped by the non fast-car looks of the soarer so there is method to my madness. She thinks it is a sensible car. I even said she could drive it. The trouble is, I could not get rid of my NA z. It is in too perfect a condition, with too few miles on it- I just could not get rid of it even to replace it with a tt, so I'll keep it, and pretend my soarer is a sensible car. Of course, I won't ACTUALLY let her drive it. ha ha ha ha.

i really like soarers, there a powerfull, big comfortable motor, i almost went for one over the zed, and as u say build quality is excellent and toyota engines are sweet.

but back on topic i dont see as a 2.5 tt as a grandad mobile, ok so it wont turn as many heads as the zed will, but with that lump under the bonnet who cares.

They are pretty good cars and quick in 2.5tt form. Toyota official figs are 0-60 in 6.1 (2.5tt manual) or 0-60 in 6.9 (4.0 auto). Both can reach 155 top.

They are still a bit pipe and slippers though. However I have seen a couple lowered with a subtle bodykit and wide 18 inch wheels and they can look quite good.

Otherwise they are too ordinary and even modified don't match the Zeds good looks.

Handling not in the same league as the Zed either.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I remember a discussion somewhere about the insurance on these. the 4.0 V8 was supposed to be pretty cheap to insure, whereas the 2.5TT was a nightmare for some reason.

Is that still the case?
