After 2 years I have finally got a full rebuild of my TT SWB auto Box

Its finally selecting all gears but I still have problems

When flooring it goes to redline in whatever gear it is in but refuses to drop to next gear. to drop I have to take my foot off the accelerator monenterily and it drops OK.

The guy who did the box said my TPS isnt set up correctly so went home and tested it. I seem to be getting ridiculous values of about 8V when with throttle closed and oscilating between 9 to 13 on open throttle. I am reading between middle pin and ground.

Does it sound Like I need a new TPS, does it prevent shifting under full throttle or is there more work to be done to the Box.Auto box specialist guarantted box mechanically OK.

Funnily enough I did the same test to my UK spec manual( converted from auto and I am getting the same Hi voltage reading (Note: the UK car was also doing this befre I converted))

Do I have 2 dodgy TPS's.

Can they be purchased at courtesy anyone got a link (Got a quote of 112 euros in Ireland from Nissan no way am I paying that)

Thanks for the help

Roy

Roy,

I'm not sure about the issues but you could try AndyZ for a nearly new TPS...

Cheers

Ben,

That looks like it's from a Z31.

Roy,

Give Mike Feeney a call to sort one out.

You could also try this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33558&item=2435768385

What, the whole assembly? And one not for a Z32?

Those values are very high, infact i think you must be testing wrong as a tickover at 9v would play havoc on the engines running.

Make sure you're doing it like this http://www.z32.org/html/tps.shtml

Would it effect the autobox, probably, but im a manual man myself.

HTH :)

Roy,

A TPS only costs around £37 + VAT at any Nissan dealer. I have the part number at home as I've just bought a new one myself and if you need it I can e-mail that to you tonight - no problem.

As for the voltages you are reading ... way off! Should defo read between 0.40V~0.45V at tickover. Would be easiest to check and set up properly with the help of a ConZult - far easier than with a multimeter! Not sure if there is anyone in/near Cork with one though ...

Regards,

I think you are testing the wrong circuit....try the other connector by the TPS - a three wire one - that should give you more realistic values.

I am putting the proble into the back of the 2nd pin on the main connector to the TPS

Is this the correct place????
