This f&*^%$£" sucks - need a new job ...

Hey all,

I am so f***ing pissed-off at the moment. Was "let go" from my job yesterday afternoon. Just like that - out of the blue - no warning, prior bollockings etc - just was told "leave your laptop and other office stuff on your desk, give us your security card, mobile phone and fuck off! I haven't done anything to warrant this, didn't fuck them over or anything like it. I am so gutted. I loved that job (Product Marketing Manager for a Unified Messaging company) and now I'm sitting at home thinking of ways to screw the company for some money (any and all suggestions are welcome). They will pay me a months salary and shit but that ain't enough. I have to look some shit up in the handbook and possibly take them to court for unfair dismissal or something because they didn't operate by the book. AHHHHHHHGRRRRR. Pardon my French but I'm royally fucked at the moment. My GF and I were just about to sign on the dotted line for a lovely new house near Oxford, she's just given up her job in B'ham to follow me to London where I (used to) work. It all just sucks!

Sorry to vent my anger over here guys but I need somewhere people understand how I feel. Please let me know if any of you know of any jobs going at the moment. I'm not too picky where (pref. B'ham, London or M40 corridor) or what (IT, telecoms, airlines, bordellos ...)

Anyway, I feel slightly better getting this off my chest. Am going to find a lawyer now ... Speak to you guys later.

Cheers!

Dan ... in desperate need of cheering up .

B*%ls...More likely they will let you do more than you're paid to do, and will some day.. still sack you! There's no loyalty either way, nowadays.

Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear your bad news, that sucks!,

Anyway if you are looking for something to tide you over send me a mail, Ill be setting up a business in the U.K very shortly and might have a job for you if you're interested.

Regards,

Brian.

Dan,

it must be the time of year for this kind of thing, we just lost 8 people from our office, leaving 7.....Its a difficult area to judge, they got round the 'sacking' in our place by giving them 'gardening leave' basically go away, dont come back, but you're not fired.....this way they cant sue for unfair dismissal and they where told to get representation to basically haggle compensation from the company. I think the rule is if you sack someone then you cant fill their job within 2 years, but if they aint actually sacked and you agree money terms then they can rehire straight away. So I'd ask if you where actually sacked and if so make sure they dont hire anyone soon to replace you. You may be able to squeeze them for more than 1 months pay and that may be the best you can do.

Good luck.

Afternoon all!

It is good to read your comments and words of support/advice. Needless to say that it is all very much appreciated. I just got a letter today from the CEO (yes, the one who sacked me) saying that it was my "inability to deliver on MBO's" that was the cause of my dismissal. In one word ... BullShit! I hit all my MBO's last quarter, hit all provisional targets this quarter and the only area which was slightly behind schedule was a particular product roadmap. And as a product manager, my job depended for 90% on the performance and delivery of others in the team/company. Their failure to deliver to me on time lead to the roadmap being behind schedule. Anyway, I feel that my name has been tarnished and I will not stand for that. I am compiling a document outlining my grievance and my proposed course of action (which includes taking them to court if necessary). This whole ordeal has given me sleepless nights and I need to get it sorted quickly.

Again, thank you so much for your support and advice and I hope that this is only a temporary setback.

Best regards,

Dan
