Hi all - wow, it's been a while again, many changes since I last visited :) Unfortunately, its bad news that brings me back...

Its almost exactly the 3rd anniversary of me owning my Z, and as a present, I've gone and bashed her in :( :( Coming out of a junction the wet weather finally caught me out, and I did a very pretty 180 pirouette and thumped the right-rear wheel into a kerb sideways.

The rim of the alloy has broken off but that's the least of my worries. The wheel itself is loose; looks like some aspect of the RWS has snapped or something. I managed to limp a mile or so back to work, but the car is crabbing badly and doesn't sound like it wants to be subjected to any more stress.

Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice? Guesses to what I might have broken, how much £££ those rear end parts can be, and where I might be able to get it taken to get it sorted... Failing that, anyone who might be interested in an otherwise perfect 300zx... [cry]

Thanks guys,

Raz

Don't sell it just cos of that bud.

Get onto AndyZ, he'll be able to help you out I'm sure.

Jack her up, put axle stands in place and have a look

with a good light.

Pit or lift, even better.

Should not be too terrible.

The worst you can have is broken arms and the shock.I did the same but hit with the front that's even worst. But for me that was for good because i found a reason to change everything with aftermarkets parts

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll get it looked at. Still dreading the bill though...

Dont worry too much!!!!

Did exactly the same thing back in March, except for me it was the left side.

Had to replace the wheel/tyre and the all of the suspension as well.

Take a look, go to the gallery and click on the black museum link. :)

I had all of the symptoms that you have, but now all is sweeeeet.

Hate to be the bearer of gloom and doom, but when the Mrs did the same to mine she bent some part of the HICAS system that was £900 for the replacement part. Ouch, I'd only had her (the car :) ) for a week when she did that.

If the HICAS is damaged it may be better to get a bypass kit for it and remover the HICAS all together. Many people say the handleing improved when it was removed.

As james300 has already mentioned, AndyZ is always worth

a call before buying new stuff.

Saved me a packet and next day delivery too.

I bought mine as accident damaged and it looked as though the same thing had happend (apart from the fact that the front was damaged). It turned out that the bottom arm, top arm, HICAS arm, shock absorber and anti roll bar were bent and the alloy was damaged. Later turned out that the wheel bearing was also damaged.

Got the HICAS arm & ball joint from Nissan which cost £110. Shocks cost £60 and the remaining parts I got second hand which cost another £150. It cost a further £140 for alloy (although that was before I knew about this site and it appears as though I paid over the odds for this one!!).

Just thought that I would give you an indication of the total cost for rear wheel part replacement...not as bad as I thought (excl. full HICAS system of course!!!)
