fitted 2nd hand recon ecu with 1mm mig tips (as jets)car got massive flat spots when pulling away & only just started after hot,any ideas??

Take it that the ecu chip is not a special one? Maybe programmed for 550 injectors? If this was used with stock injectors the fueling would be very weak mixture.

 

Other poss is an air leak - maybe you pulled off or damaged an inlet manifold hose when you fitted the mig tips and its drawing air

The chip was from 2nd hand andy & he new what car it was for (jwt chip).

mechanic that done work is normaly very careful, any other ideas??

The ECU plugs can sometimes not seat properly, make sure it's on firmly at both ends.

Unlikely to have caused your problem I'd say, but worth a go.
