Hi,

Looking at our logo I am starting to think it looks a slightly dated,

I have always liked the one on they use on the skyline forum, the one in the top left corner!

Anyway what do you guys think and is there anyone on here who is a dab hand at making a new logo and can put forward some ideas?

Do you want a new logo for the club? 38 members have voted

I think one would be a good idea. If we are striving be become an Official club we really need a logo with the times.

Stuart

No, in my opinion, I think that logo is probably the only bit of the original forum set up by Nico and Craig left, and thus should stay to show where the place came from.

Just my opinion but I dont think it would be showing the 2 founder members a great deal of respect by changing it.

I don't mind the Z part, its just the dodgy picture of the zed next to it (no disrespect to the original designers):o

Yeah, your right, maybe it should be a red one!!!:D ;)

Still think its best left alone but i was refering to the red and yellow Z with 300zx.co.uk written underneath more.

I was thinking more of one without a roof!!:D ;)

No Skip Jokes:mad:

Yes the club does need a new logo, in fact I would go so far to say that it needs a whole revamp.

I voted no but thought you meant just the Z logo. Yeah, lose the car- that does look dated. But think we should keeo the Z logo as it is.

Why not, keep the 300zx bit and ditch / replace the car.

Mike

You cant change the Z part of the logo, cos i will have to change my whole boot build!!??:D

The Z part of the logo is integral to what the club is. It's a symbol that defines the club as a whole.

The logo should in essence represent what the club is about; it's methodology and what it represents. Before starting a identity project I go to every single department in a business and ask key personnel various questions about how they see the company etc ... This way you get the information on how they see the organisation at the moment, what they think the organisation should portray etc ... This is really key in designing a logo that will last and represent the organisation as a whole.

I agree with some of the posts above. I would think that the Z is worth keeping in itself, not necessarily in those particular colours and probably modified to include an X and different typography to represent the club name. Unfortunately it isn’t a case for just ‘losing’ the car, that doesn’t really do it. You need to think ahead. Are you going to send out a newsletter, headed paper etc … Print can be tricky, the colours used for the web will be different when used in print, also the amount of colours used. The logo needs to be very versatile in it’s usage.

You could have a more modern logo like that of the skyline forum or a more conventional logo that identifies the club.

Can be rather involved unfortunately.

my vote is no keep it!!!

why change something everyone no's

I just had a thought.

Perhaps the logo -should- look dated - early 90s Japanese corporate, to be precise - because we all love early 90s silly buggers cars. Look how often we discuss cars other than the Z: Skylines, RX7s, even Poopras... we all trek down to Billing...

Isn't that what this club is about as much as anything else?

I vote WebMonkey for president, er, I mean, offical design guru.

How about a greyscale effort to avoid the problems with colour - after all, black is the best colour for a Z anyway. :D

If we are a forum or club based round the 300ZX, then the logo should represent the Z32 300ZX. Such as the Z logo.

The Z in the forum logo is, in fact, the same Z which is the logo for the car. J models have it on the front panel. It's also on (model dependant) steering wheel, wheel centres, carpets - and I am sure a whole load of other places I am too p*ssed to remember. So I vote for keeping the Z.

It certainly can. You could actually cut the cr*p by setting a few givens (a sad term used by saddo marketing/advertising/management suits but that's what I do): a) use the Z logo that is the same one as is on the car

b) make it look good in its primary usage (on the web). If the colours use the websafe palette, the site will load quicker and the logo will be easily translatable to other media like print.

Cheers - Gio

How come all most of the votes say change it, but most of the posts say keep it?

I don't think we have time to design a new logo, so Tim might as well go ahead and with the old design!

If the logo changes these could be worth a fortune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I voted No quite happy with the current one and also like the forum colours. Why change for the sake of it?

  • 2 weeks later...

I was going to purchase a fleece but then i saw the logo on it and thought - er no!!

Dont mean to be rude, but a big yellow and red Z on black !!!! Its a traversty of justice!!

Just the logo - 300zx owners club - would look better than that!!

I don't mind the logo, at least on the website...

If we were to change it I just say keep the Z just make it plain.

With 300zx.co.uk next to it instead of the car...

Just a thought.
