Did you see the news over the weekend? Apparently now that oil prices are at a low point, and petrol is (in theory) cheaper, the poxy lying back-stabbing incompetent 'GOVERNMENT' is going to put petrol tax up another 5p per litre!!!! They hope we will not notice it, as instead of prices falling, they will stay the same (until the next time oil price goes up and we're paying £1 per sodding litre.)

How long are are they gonna piss down our necks and tell us it's raining!?!? More to the point, why do we let the buggers get away with it?

Politicians set themselves up for running/ruining our lives, and there is no come-back if they are useless, other than to give them the sack. That's fine in business coz if you screw up you have only lost money for your own/bosses company. The politicians deal in peoples EVERY DAY LIVES. They affect the way we work, play, get-together, interact and even what we eat. There should be a MUCH STRONGER penalty for them messing up the lives of MILLIONS!   :slap:

I don't agree with it, but it was announced in the last budget, so it's not as if it's sudden.

It's an inflation rise, you know the kind, the kind that's 2.5 times inflation!

Mike

The news report I saw didn't metion that it was already in the budget, just said it was an increase to cover short falls in some of the other 'brilliant ideas' the dumb-asses came up with.

Even it was in the budget they're on about making local councils hold a referendum over raising council tax (see BBC website today) as most of them are going up by twice inflation.

Not that I'm against a referendum of course ;) but what do you reckon the chances are of a referendum about more fuel extortion ?

About as much chance as getting a referendum over Europe :D

At least we're no longer the country with the highest prices, thanks to the Euro. Apparently we're about 4th ! God alone knows what fuel prices would go up to if we were in it !

Er sorry - rant over ! :)

Better get used (or more used) to this kind of sh*t seeing as Blair and his spin doctors have canceled politics in the UK, by convincing us that they're all as bad as each other. Hence, no need to change.

They'd far rather we worried about Posh & Becks than the fact that the country is being ruined ...

Arrrggghhh ... bloody politics.

Labour = Useless!!

Liberals = Useless, probably even higher taxes!!

Conservatives = Shambles and less social respnsibility!!

So non of the above get my vote, but if someone comes up with, heavy cuts to fuel costs, increasing the motorway speed limits to sensible level based on conditions (say 120mph when good weather and no congestion etc..) remove all speed camera's, stop sending sneaky *******s out in transit vans with back door open and camera concealed inside, doesn't matter how crap other agenda's are, I'll vote for them!! and I suspect they'd win the election.

But joking apart, politicians need to realise there are over 20 million motorists out there!! so come the revolution !!!

The Govt actually announced this in the budget in the usual way, but delayed it because there was a war on. So it's not "news" really, except in the sense it's about to happen!

ANyone know what the Lib Dems stance on speed limits etc is? I had a quick search on their site but couldn't find anything...

Lib Dems are just all talk and no trousers at the moment. Tories are well ..... a bit quiet and Labour - need I say more?

This is why I have given up with politics - Same shit different party ****ing you over.

Cant see any of the main parties removing the fuel tax as it is far too profitable and the real problem is that we let them get away with it!

So true

Voting: You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Best to have the three major parties equal number of seats and let them seriously work. Crap ideas will be slated by the other two parties unlike the last great idea-war on Iraq.

Such is life:(

I listened to Alan Milburn on radio 4 this morning, and apologies to anyone that I nearly ran off the road whilst swerving about, screaming at the radio!!

I can't believe how far detached these guys are from reality. He yacked on and on, missing the point at almost every juncture.

The crux of his argument was how Labour would offer people the "choice" they deserved for schools and hosptials .. FFS .. If they had a decent local hospital or school, or could rely on each being a decent place to learn or get treated they wouldn't need a choice FFS ... What about schools that teach kids a bit of respect, not what their rights are, and if they want to take a car, or damage one, they should - lest we stifle their creativity ..

There was the usual rhetoric and hot-air in there about the country being confident to face the new millenium .. Jesus Christ, we don't need rhetoric, we need something done about the fact that our road and rail infrastructure would be laughed at by most 3rd world countries I wouldn't doubt.

So, I'm sure the answer will be more taxes on the people who keep the country running - but what's happened to all the money they've had so far?

We've become world leaders in beaurocracy .. Great!

Grrrrrr .. Politics .. makes me mad

Sorry!

Rant over.

JB.

Going with what VAN 300 said

A coalition government would work as they would be too busy doing something as opposed to slagging each other off. No wonder there is so much dissatisfaction with the political system (dissatisfaction that lead in my home town to the BNP gaining a seat!) if all we hear are future broken promises then who does the man (or woman for that matter) in the street turn to? Perhaps we should vote for scumbags like these (BNP) if only to make the main parties pull the finger out and solve the problems we have, then again we dont really need people like that? We need people who can get the job done for the people of Britain.

As for the NHS - I see it as a very sick car that no matter how much money you throw at it - it wont be any better. I have this view from personal experience where my mother was seriously ill with enchephalitis and the only thing that saved her life was her BUPA medical insurance! The NHS were fecking useless! I would now even go as far to say that the NHS would need serious reorganising for it to be the effective and efficient service we as taxpayers deserve. Until that day arrives im still keeping my BUPA insurance handy.

Roads - why do I pay road tax when the roads near me are like something from Beiruit (and the reason my none of my cars have ever had suspension mods). They seem to like spending it on new speed cameras that catch the unwary motorist. If not that the police like to catch criminals otherwise known as motorists for doing 31mph in a 30mph zone ( I actually know the poor girl who got nabbed for this and then contested it and the Police backed down.). Admittedly we have a problem with people doing unsuitable speed (Boy racers) in innapropriate areas but what about the muggers or the gun crime in my area? Where were the police when my car stereo was nicked or when somebody did hit and run on one of my previous cars?

What all of these have in common is the fact that they all use the "pass the buck" mentality. "Its not my fault its X" What happened to acountability and just being bluntly honest when you make a mistake. Seems to be a trait lacking from several people such as Mr Hoon & Mr Gilligan. The sad thing about this is that these people made it to the top because decent people were sqeezed out of position by these worms. Not survival of the fittest I say survival of the most treacherous! Lunacy!

I have had my fill

:( :( :( :(

I dont want the BNP in power, BUT if my vote helps them in, and kicks the other idiots in the teeth so they start doing their job, and not lining their pockets etc, I will vote for the BNP.

On the fuel price rise, they said they could now do it because the oil market was far more stable. And so OPEC cuts production so raise prices. How can they be so stupid, NO WRONG, how can WE BE SO STUPID.

Copy the FRENCH. They dont let the politicians walk all over them.
