Exhaust stuff

Just had some luvlie new backboxes fitted courtesy of Mark at Tube Torque, Macclesfield. He pointed out to me that the balance pipes off the back of the turbos have been disconnected, presumably when the original s/s exhaust was fitted. He advised that they should be re-fitted and gave me a few reasons why. But, I'm sure I've heard other saying why they are better left off.

Any thoughts?

Come on Guys - I posted this at least a day ago and there have been 40 of you read it. Doesn't anyone know about this?

The balance pipe between the two sides of the exhaust? Or are you talking about the AIV pipes?

There is no such thing as balance pipes off the back of the turbos. All I can think of is the AIV valves as dave said. If it is those, leave them - they're only needed for anti smog laws in the states. We have no test like that over here. They also give a gurgling noise after a while as they fill with water...
