Cruise Control Limiter

Cruise Control Limiter

Three questions - OK Oh wise ones...

Which wire do I cut to remove the silly Cruise Control limiter on my JAP TT?

Which wire do I cut to disable the silly (I'm going faster than 65MPH) beeper alarm, and finally,

Which wire do I cut to remove the silly reversing beeper thingy?

Andy,

I had the same bloody chime on my TT (speed). You need to remove the topbit of the speedo binacle (two screws) and separate a connector. Eric (Lymon) did this for in under 3 minutes! It is actually the same chime for the lights-on reminder so the easiest way to locate it is to turn your lights on, remove the top of the binacle and listen where the noise is coming from. After the connector has been separated just reverse the process and hey presto ... no more chime!

As for the cruise control - slightly more complex than cutting a wire. You actually need to reconfigure a bunch of resistors in the box that houses the ECU. There is a technical write up of this procedure but you need to be quite handy with a soldering iron. Have a look on the Australian tech site and I'm sure you'll find both writeups.

Good luck mate! Where abouts are you located? I still haven't done my cruise control either and am getting together with JeffTT (at some point) to get it sorted.

Cheers!

Oops, forgot about the reverse thingy ... I haven't yet found where this offensive noise is coming from - seems to be from the transmission tunnel ... If I find it I'll let you know.

Cheers

Another (more advanced) way to get rid of the 65+ mph chime:

Remove the odometer-unit

and remove the screw (or use a rubber washer) in the pictures (blue circle)

if that doesn't work, cut the wire (red circle)

Note: This only works for the earlier Z32's ('89-'92)
