I have a Gunpro timing light. I have connected it to the battery but I am having trouble putting the clip on which goes normally on a HT lead. Where do I put it on the Z? If I put it on the wire to the coil pack of cylinder 1 nothing happens. The gun does work.

ย

Where do I clip the detector of the timing light gun on the Z? Any ideas as I want to test the timing. She seems to be popping a lot lately.

I believe there's a hook up wire on the PTU.

Just 1 wire on the PTU or will it work connecting it to the PTU wire.?

Thanks

There seems to be a black wire with white marks on it, which exposes itself from the PTU wiring. Is that the one does any one know?

dont know if that will work with a standard timing light, but its worth a try.

ย

otherwise, remove no1 coil pack & get a HT lead between the coil pack & the plug. connect the pickup to this.

Hmm. I cant seem to get it to pick it up though. :(

ย

I put it in the holder thing but its miles smaller.

ย

I will try to wrap it round a few times see if that helps.

Stuart - seriously doubt that will work tbh. As paul says use a normal HT lead on no 1 coil instead ;)

Hi Stuart.

ย

You need to modify an old HT lead/plug cap so you can fit it into the spark plug aperture onto the plug terminal in cylinder 1. You put the other end in the coil pack that you should have previously removed.

ย

You connect the timing light sensor to the new HT lead between coil pack 1 and spak plug 1. Battery connections are as normal.

ย

Mind your HT lead doesn't pop out and crack you with 25000 volts though ;)

ย

The loop on the PTU is apparently useless at best.

ย

Cheers!
