I had a Cobra 7928 alarm fitted when I bought my car.

Can anyone tell me if you can change the cabin sensors from ultrasonics to microwave (I now know that there is a microwave version available - hindsight!) and can it be set up to lock the doors, close the windows and fold the mirrors in?

Tim,

The features you speak of are a function of the specific unit you have fitted. The closure of the doors and windows is only available if the car (and alarm) support "total closure". I am not sure if our Zeds have this because when I fitted my alarm, the shop had to put in special actuators/motors to have the doors lock automatically (like central locking) when the alarm is activated. It doesn't work on my windows though ... I would imagine that the folding of the mirrors is just a simple relay to your current switch from the alarm unit. As for the microwave sensors - check with the manufacturer if your unit can be upgraded. Mine was an either ultrasonic or microwave option. But beware, microwave sensors cost a packet - mine were about £50 a piece vs £10 for a pair of ultrasonics. The good thing about the microwave ones is that they can be mounted behind the material in the car - I still don't know where mine are hidden!

Hope this makes sense.

Regards,

Danny
