Uni-Chip For 300zx ( Am I The Only One?? )

I have had a Dastek Uni-chip installed in my zed for about a year now. Am I the only one on this forum that has had one of these installed on a Zed?. I have to say that apart from a few problems at the start( which I think were due to other things) the chip has been ok. How come no-one else seems to have one of these?. Do they have a bad name or something!. Surely with all the new member the forum has now one person must have this upgrade!!. It did make the car go from fast to holy s##t as far as performance goes so why is it not used more?

Anyone else out there!!

Do a write up mate and convert us to the ways of the Uni-chip. smile.gif

Have you got a Bhp figure for before and after?

Does it affect driveability at low speed and idle?

Stuff like that.

There are alot of figures for JWT, Mines etc ecu's, but not alot of figures for the Uni-chip(then again I realise it depends on what mods you have).

In theory these should be great, but I think it depends totally upon the skill of the person who set it up.

So how much power does your car make, ought to know because they're set-up on the dyno, right ? And what does it do to the gallon, and does it pink etc. etc. ...

When I had this installed I did not know about the forum and had not even heard of JWT, Mines etc. I was going to install a superchip but I was advised to go for a uni-chip. The main reason being that it can be reprogrammed to accommodate any future upgrades (such as larger injectors etc.). It removes the speed limiter and also can be programmed to set the power band of the car where you want it (apparently!).

My zed has had this chip / boost upgrade installed, straight though exhaust and an induction kit. The guy said that it was pushing out around the 400BHP figure. Don't know if this is exact but I do know it was a dramatic increase in performance. It burnt the stock clutch ( that was 2 months old ) out in three weeks!!

Petrol consumption does not seem any worse than it was before. It does not pink and has quite a smooth power output, but does have a slightly erratic idle. This may be due to something other than the chip. Have done the usual ( cleaned the TPS etc. ) and that did make an improvement.

Have not got any dyno readings so I can't let you know what the figures for it are. All I can say is that it did change the performance considerably. I addition to this I hope that I will be able to use its benefit of adding more upgrades to the car!!

(When some more cash is floating around that is)

I find it difficult to believe that I am the only one with the uni-chip!!. I remember Craig said that he may be going for this upgrade, have you installed one yet M8?.

What has anyone else heard about these chips ( Good / Bad )

i havent had it done yet.

a good friend of mine had it installed in his mr2turbo and he was over the moon with it.

i remember the threads where this has come up before, and i would have gone for one, but am lacking in funds at the moment.

i also need an engine rebuild if i am to start putting the power up a lot, as i have 135k on stock turbos...

i thought i would wait until i am ready to do some serious work, and wait until after my drive round france on holiday.... cant really be breaking down with the family in the car...

(i dont mean that the unichip will make my car break down, i mean that doing more serious mods might make my car break down with current mileage)

Where from and how much?

Must confess when this first came up i was negative about it, not because i thought they were crap or anything, it was simply the compatability for the Zed, heard fantastic reports on these for all cars except our's, however i do watch what the company Dask are up to and this chip has been continually modernised over the years and when funds allow will very possibly be going down that road myself as a chip is my next mod, Smithy

The cost to supply and install the uni-chip on my car was £450.00 . Amazing when I think how much fun that £450.00 has made my Zed!!

It was installed by Millway sport in Andover. They did a good job and are very helpfull. I will keep you informed on any future upgrades (have to give Johnny at GPS a ring soon to see what can be done next!)

I wonder if you can run four turbos off the uni-chip!!LOL

Hi found the Dastek site below and there are a lot of dealers around have mailed some for prices etc will let all know. The piggy back design seems old hat now but then if it works and is reproggramable what the hell as i have been (being ?(which one ?)) looking at JWT any way this is a UK available method other than the dreaded Superchip which no one rates anyway interesting to see the quote below from Nissan Motorsport
