Lee, it's the later OBD-II 16 bit ECU you have. Not too many people seem to know too much about it.

I have a contact in japan who can get it done for you, or JWT do it.

I believe it replaces a surface mount EPROM with a daughter board and a 40pin 27C1024.

oh bloody great

is it a good ecu lol

so now instead of a 20 quid chip or what ever, il prob have to pay 400 quid now cos its bit rarer.

oh joy.

would i have to de-solder one of the 40 pin chips then :S

do u know what the daughter board does and why i aint got one?

is it just an extension of the mother board and they managed to fit it all on the mother board on the later ones?

cheers dude!

You're right about the daughter board, guess they just integrated it into some of the other bits.

You could look into doing it yourself, look for an EPROM number on one of the chips, and RS do converter sockets to change it to a DIP, it might all fit in there but I'd imagine soldering it would be a nightmare without all the proper iron heads and things.

You'd still have to get hold of a tuned ROM for it though.

This disscussion has popped up a few times on the Aus300ZX forum of late.

I also have a j-spec zed which uses the same ecu as per the one in the pic and is also identical as the pic JWT have on their site and it is listed as a 16bit ecu.

This ECU was used from 10/94 - 01/97. (j-spec fast confirmed)

I believe this ECU is an OBD11 ECU

donations very welcome ;)

cheers for the info dude, i may have to save a little first :S

Heh, heh........when you start to poke about with the

electronics on a Zed, it's gonna cost.

Sheesh! 300 horses ought to be enough.

Have you fitted an induction kit?

Let the thing breathe

Improved the brakes?

(You could take Bugatti's attitude to a customer

who complained about the brakes....

"M'sieur, I make my cars to go, not to stop.")

You might want to check if the ECU's are pin compatible - just a thought but you might be able to swap it for an old one
