This engine I'm getting ready to put back in has been stood for ages and I'm still waiting for parts.

Is it going to do it any harm standing with no oil in it for months on end?

Is there anything I should do as it might be a while yet?

Chris.

dont worry bud the engine in my zed didnt turn 4 about 2 years no bull, latz pourd some oil down the bores every now and again and turned it by hand just to keep it lubricated, i woul suggest kepping the sparkplugs in to stop air gettin in and causing rust!!

Even if there was oil in it, you need to start it to get the oil to the top of the engine anyway dont you?

oops i didnt explain myself very well then did i!!

what i meant to say was, open all the spark plugs, pour just a dash of oil into the bore on top of the piston then turn the engine by hand ( i figure your engine is on a stand is it ), just to help keeping the bours clean, then replace your sparkplugs, do this once every couple of months then your engine should b fine, dont forget now just a little dash of oil not too much!!

i hope this is of some help to ya!
