The wheels I am probably getting are only available in 8 inch. So its 235/40 on the fronts, but shall I put wider on the rears? Say, 255 maybe? Or just keep the same all round?

And while on the subject of tyres, best place for Toyo's?

Cheers.

You should really have wider wheels on the rear, 8" isn't really enough to maintain the front rear balance. Putting different sized tyres on the same sized rims is likely to change the tyre profile and alter the handling characteristics.

Which is because for some inexplicable Japanese reason 245 profile tyres were not approved in Japan. Hence they used 50 profile tyres on 7.5" wheels all round. In all other countries TT's had 7.5" front and 8.5" rears - like they were intended to have.

So will it change the 'handling characteristics' enough for me not to get them, or are we talking pretty minimal?

Dunno, try it and see, or follow most other people and use the commonly accepted sizes ...

I think it could be a stupid and expensive mistake to try it and see!

Choosing some wheels is a fookin nightmare.

Stu..........I want my old one's back!!!

James as Andy said go for wider on the rear, the car will also handle much much better;)

I know that is the best combo - just that after hours of looking at wheels, I finally came up with the one's I wanted and they are only available in 8 inch! :( *****x.

Hmmmmm.........can I get back to you on that one?

Hi James

I had 8" wheels on my last zed, which went to CJ who wrote it off!! and now the wheels are on his new car, warrens i think.

I had 235's on the front and 265's on the back and they were fine, also with the wider tyres on it gave the impression that the back were begger anyway.

Ask CJ how he finds the handling

Cheers
