I am thinking quite far ahead but what size job is changing form Auto to Manual transmission. I susspect this would run into plenty of ££££, but I just want to get an idea so I can budget for a possible swap in the future.

Similar to fitting a new autobox I think, I've seen around £1.5k quoted before.

Search on "conversion" or the like ;)

y not fit a SAW conversion ? - better than a manwell - or upgrade the autobox- Macca's auto is awesome I've heard;)

Shift At Will is that?

Yup. For techno-geeks and IT professionals :D :D ;) :D :D aka Control freaks with poor interpersonal skills ;) :D :D

Labour will prob be a good chunk of the cost unless you can do the work yourself.

Parts cost me about £1250 including an RPS street clutch from Smithy (nice!), the majority of bits from AndyZ and a few odds and ends from Nissan and a breaker in the US...

Best bet is to find a complete car in a breakers and carefully remove the bits you need - rubber hoses and electrical wiring can add up to a ridiculous amount and most breakers simply cut 'em off...

Definately worth the swap though...(for me at least)

Cheers!

Unless you can do the work yourself and

get cheap used parts it surely cannot

be worth spending so much money!

Better to smarten her up a bit and be satisfied

with that, or get rid and buy a manual.

(Which is what you should have done

in the first place:p :p!)

Yep your right. I should have waited and bought a manual, I just got a bit carried away with her looks etc. Easy to do, I am sure you will agree.

Must say though, I all ready know my next car is going to be another Z.

One of the biggest improvements you could make would be

to have polyurethane bushes fitted and a pillow ball tension rods.

Just had it done and the difference is marvellous.

Only pity is that no-one can see what's been done.

Hmm...fair comment but when you're faced with a bill for over £2K for a recon autobox and uprated cooler then the manual conversion is a cheaper option..;)

You can buy manual box and all the bits for about £600 and do it yourself. It's not as hard as you think.

The worst bit I found was getting the clutch pedal installed.
