Big thanks go to AndyP for showing me what a good example of an Auto TT goes like smile.gif

And for letting me drive it (brave man!) wink.gif

Next..

Does anyone live around my area - Slough/Maidenhead.. There's that TT I'm pondering ('ok' exterior (one dent), bad interior, but only 29k on the clock (if that's real mileage)) getting, and I'd really like a more experienced eye than my own to guide me on this decision smile.gif

Beers/money/sexual favours (but not if you're male wink.gif ) in it for any volunteer..

Hi,

I would look around unless they are giving the car away!

If the car is in a bad state inside, it puts a question mark over the mileage, and makes you wonder how the previous owner (Japanese Sumo?) looked after it.

When I bought my car, it was dirty inside, and the leather needed some TLC, but it was otherwise sound.

There are plenty of TT Autos about, so look at a few more before deciding. They can be a costly mistake!

Well - *if* the mileage is genuine, then it would be a good deal at about 4-4.5k.. The seller says he has paperwork showing that mileage (well less than that obviously) on it's first UK MOT...

Of course it could well be a dodgy import that was clocked well back then MOT'd..

I'll admit I'd like a nicer condition one that I didn't have to have retrimmed right away..

I think though, that mileage is a pretty important factor, no..?

Yeah, the MOT on my privately purchased import said 48k miles, but after I had bought it, I read through some of the import documents and found that the conversion from KMs to Miles didn't add up!

You live and learn! wink.gif

I live in the Slough area, and personally imported my car from JAPVILLAGE in Southwater, which is near Horsham, about an hours drive away. They have a RED manual TT which has done 80000KM genuine, and is immaculate. The car has not arrived yet and will be £6000, however if you pay up front it will cost £5000 but with full money back guarantee, if on viewing you decide you do not like it.

I live near Guildford (Surrey) but my parents live near Slough, so I'd be happy to help you look. Although mileage is important (ie g/box & turbo lifespan) I would rather go for condition. As mentioned before, it's often a good indication as to how the car's been looked after by previous owners. Mines a '91 import (TT auto) that I purchased from an import specialist at Xmas. Had an indicated 74,000 kilometers, but looks more like a 3 yr old car.
