Anybody got experience of these fuel controllers?

I'm not too keen on the Apexi's big bright display but it is meant to have a detonation meter built in which sounds like a good idea.

Chris.

Hi ya Chris, yes it has got a det meter, have just got one,if you dont like the bright blue display, the S-AFC II Limited edition has a white display(mine)AdamR can tell you more as he has one up and running ;)

I'd probably got for the Apexi out of the two, the s-afc2 looks damn good spec wise. And, yeah the knock sensor is cool, ideally need to get some decent sensors for it, not just the crappy stock one.

For about £280 you can get an emanage though with cables, software etc; so i'd go for that over either of the simpler apexi/hks type gadgets.

Yeah I've just been reading about the eManage and it does look good!

Does it just plug in to the stock harness or does it need hard wiring in?

I was going to put 555's in and a JWT or SE type chip, then use the HKS or Apexi to tweek things...

What's the best way to get a dual pop type system working with these options?

I've got a single Blitz SUS on now and was thinking I could either use one AFM and a spacer pipe on the other side, or 2 AFM's?

2 AFM's are good, but you need an Apexi S-AFC to make it all work.

Twin POP with Blitz filters replacing the JWT ones would be best. You already have one, just need another ;)

Oh NOOOOOOO! I sense another explosion coming up:(

FFS Chris just make sure that engine runs ok before you go silly!

Chris, I've fitted a Emanage to a Z & it isn't *really* hard if you know what you doing. About 30+ wires to splice/cut/solder though lmao

Chris, have you considered something like Ash's Zemulator or just a basic Eprom emulator. You can do all the stuff those plug in gizmos can do then just burn a ROM from the code once you're happy. You can get a romulator for around £150

Can a well mapped ROM do the same as these gadgets?

I would still have to get the fuel controller set up by someone who knows what they are doing so is it not as easy to get them to map my ROM?

Would I still need a controller to set up a dual pop system though?

JWT do a 555 dual pop chip but it's not set up for UK fuel.

Maybe a trip to SE is in order once it's running on a basic 555 chip that I have?

Yeah, you can do everything the gadgets can do. The gadgets just fiddle the signals. Super AFR will affect timing as well as fuelling on a Z32 ECU, but nobody ever mentions that - load scale is based on AFM voltage, so as you tweak it, you move the access points up the scale on fuel AND timing maps.

For dual pop (1 real, 1 dummy MAF) double K value, tweak bottom end of VQ table to give smooth idle and it's done. I can show you maps with this done if you want. Probably try it on mine now I've got an emulator.
