Probably a stupid question, where are the cats located on the exhaust system? I have looked at it and can see there are 3 parts to it, down pipe, mid and rear. Which section has the cat?

That 3.5% and 1200 ppm HC's rings a bell.

However, have just checked the emissions sheet and I had worse case 1.37 co and 82 ppm HC, but I think we just ran that thru after as a check.

So I reckon we did a non cat test.

Thanks for your expert help Paul.

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

When I took my Zed in for its mot, they tested the cats though it was a '91 car.

I asked them whether it was necessary since it was pre '92.

Their reply was any car fitted with a cat, irrespective of it's age has to be tested for it's efficiency.

Since the car passed it's test I did not argue the case.

Likewise I had the same responsewhen I said but it's pre 92 but it passed as well.

My inlet valves are fooked and I'm kicking out just under 3000 ppm Hydro Carbons.
