If I were running 90 RMS (300 watt max) speakers what wattage amp would be the most appropriate ???

Featured Replies

50-75 RMS would do the job, any more would be a waste as you would be pusing them to the max which will kill them off.

Nice one thanks Bob:)

Using an amp of too low power can result in distortion which could destroy speakers of far greater power.

Running an amplifier beyond its capabilities will cause it to 'flat top' which will kill speakers faster than running them beyond their spec. As long as the amp gain is set properly, this won't happen. I agree with Bob on this FWIW :D

IT also depends on the sensitivity of the speakers if u r interested in sound quality.

Ok this is what I will be/am running

Two sets of Infinity Components front and mid car powered by 2 Rockford Fosgate 200 watt amps. 50rms per channel

One set of Infinity Kappa 6x9 in the rear powered by Rockford Fosgate 300 watt amp. 75rms per channel

2 x Infinity basslink active subs.

How does that sound ???

prolly dead loud

I would use a 2 x 90w rms amp and turn the gain down, that way you aren't pushing the speakers and the amp has plenty left should you upgrade later, and you will !!!
