Somehow I've managed to disconnect (or break) my ambient temp sensor when wiring my gauges up. The ambient tempereature is currently reading -86C so the air-con is useless at the moment :(

I've used the A/C diagnositc to pin it down to the ambient sensor, but where the hell is it? :)

All help appreciated as ever

Hello James,

As far as I know it's either the one in the front bumper or the one on the top of the dash where the vents are (but I think that's called the "sun load" sensor).

It's behind the front bumper and I think you have to remove it to get to it but I might be wrong.

If it's stopped working after you fitted gauges then look in those areas to see if you have disturbed something.

may have been a coincidence as I've just changed the front bumper too...

ohh well :D

Its attached to the drier receiver, at the front drivers side of the car. You can see this as a can about the size of a bike water bottle with the A/C pipes attached to the top if you look in from the front. The temp sensor (and low pressure switch) are attached to this bottle. You can trace the wire from here to the sender.

Could be that these have been reconnected the wrong way around (two connections look very similar), or not even attached at all. I would check this out first.....

James,

Remeber the wires that I pointed to saying these look like they have been disconnected, then I asked if anything had stopped working ?.

I reckon that's the problem area. Which means the front bumper will have to come off again. Which also means you can fit that IC mesh back on :D.

I'm happy to help again mate, because if it took 2 of us almost three hours, fook knows how long it will tak you on your tod :D.

Our turn to supply the munchies and drinks this time :D.

Thanks everyone, and I may take you up on your offer Stu!

I did the gauges and bumper within a day of each other so probably didn't notice at the time. And this is so not the weather to break your a/c :D
