A comment on the BBS/Club(call it anyway you like)

It seems to me that this BBS/Club is run like a family business, nobody asks the employees(members in that case) what the right persons for the job would be, there's just the Old Man(as in every family business) that chooses the successors or the co-operators......

I would like to hear people's views on that....

All of the initial Committee for the Club has been established at Craig's invitation and request.

It has to start somewhere to get the club up and running,In time the club members will be able to vote who is in and who is out, this is all about team work and if you are a moderator or a Committee member and you not pulling your wait,I can't see why he or she should be still active in the club if they are not doing their job properly.

This is not a democracy, because not all contribute the same. You either stay or go - or ask to become a moderator and have your input. Also, the mods seem to be fine to me in that they listen to suggstions/gripes etc.

So what's the problem ??

I agree with Nelson.

Yeah I know!:D

I don't think that's a matter of doing a good job or a bad job, but a matter of doing a good job and doing a better job, doing a good job and doing a good job faster/quicker.

Go out and have the biggest and hottest curry you can. That should improve how much quicker 'JOBS' get done!:D

On a more serious note, I've been here a while, and enjoy it. It helps to while away the boring times at work and gives me a bit of technical help, as well as a few laughs. I generally like the way the place is run, but at the end of the day ......I have a life:D ;)

So are you volunteering to help ?

Ok shipping;)

Still need to pay it on Tobacco, says at the airport EEC,none EEC;)

When you pay your duty on them they stick an orange sticker on the pack;)

OK, see what you mean. No import duty required, as long as it's paid at source within an EEC member state already. Anyway, do you have to pay duty on Olives ? Are we far enough off track yet ? :D

If you look at the number of members who voted in three very important polls you will see that the initial reponse from members on setting up a club is on par with almost every other car club that i have been involved with

Do you support the formulation of the 300.co.uk club 49 votes

poll on freeloaders 30 votes

poll on subscribed members 64 votes

so I doubt whether a vote by members on who is going to be on the first committee will work

the only way forward is for the people who were asked by Craig to help out to form a committee and then set a constitution and then after a year in office you then nominate who you would like on the committee and if, and it is a very big if, they agree to stand yopu then vote on who you want to be on the committee

from experience on various committees i have found that once you are on them and do your job to the best of you ability other members don't often come forward to take over from you

and you can be stuck with the job for a few years
