I've noticed that my car only seams to smoke when the air con is on and not on idle, any ideas?

Cheers

I could be talking a complete load of bolox here but when the air con is switched on the water temp goes up by nearly 15 degrees (that bits not bolox) so the oil must be hotter therefore thinner getting past seals

15degree increase? Something wrong with your sensors I think.

The A/C puts some load on the engine and probably takes up somewhere between 5-10hp away but I would only expect a nominal coolant temperature increase.

Steve,

I have been playing with this quite alot amd my temp gauge (aftermarket) sits at a steady 80 degrees even boosting it only goes to 85ish but as soon as i put the aircon on it goes to 90-95 and even higher when boosting for any length of time , turn the aircon off and back down to 80ish , much more noticable in hot weather

and all the time the standard temp gauge does not move

the thing is I think it's when the idling goes up as the smoke starts within a few seconds. Would this still be turbo seals?

Vijay, i meant to ask, are they from Turbo technics ? wouldn't be the first to have problems with tubs and only small mileage.

Anyone heard how Subs is getting on with his turbo's going back to them ?

cheers

:p sounds fairly normal.....bit of hot weather and boost with high intake temperature hels push the temp up this high though!

Any idea what the oil temperature runs at with a coolant temperature of 90-100?

Hi Smithy,

Not sure where the turbos were from as I had the whole job from Ancaster in Kent.

Does anyone know why I wouldn't get oil on idle but get it with the air con on
