hi guys has anyone here managed to re-fit an auto gearbox back in there zed, im getting my zed back soon so will have to fit the autobox myself!!

 

is it a big job without ramps was thinking of axle stands and jacking the gearbox into place or is this a daft idea!!

With a manual, no it's fine, a bit fidley and requires some force but is ok.

I know auto's are supposed to be heavier but other than that i suspect it's doable. Someone else 'll be able to give u a proper answer.

thanxs bud yeah deffinetaly looks a lot heavier but with brut force she will go in kicking and screaming!!

Just make sure that the torque convertor is pushed back properly into the gearbox (It locks into gearbox oil pump) before you put it back on, or else bending can ensue!!!

ok bud thats a good point, then i would be in deep poo poo if that happend, get the zed back on sun will keep u posted on the re-build!!

and put some vaseline around the front and rear oil seals first. make sure the converter is IN, spin it to help make sure. if you look at the input shafts, for want of a better name, count them, and see if you get the same number of "clunks" as you put the converter in.
