Hi all,

My clutch seems to be misbehaving and is getting worst with each day that passes.

Symptoms are as follows:

Serious problems putting it in first gear, no grinding of spinning cogs but it takes a lot of force and eventually clicks into place.

2nd gear is the same but only when stationary (are all the gears)

when moving getting into 2nd isn't a problem, but 3rd gear crunches.

Sometimes i.e. 1 out of 20, first gear will slip in without a problem.

Is this a case of adjustment needed or are we looking at a new clutch or something else ?

Sounds like you have a leak to me matey.

Loose a little fluid and u will have to push the pedal further.

Next day u loose a little more and u have to press further, until u get to the point of gear changes being hard.

Pedal adjustment will help and it's quite easy once u get in the "forbidden position" but u must have a leak if it's getting worse.

My 2p anyway.

Top the fluid and bleed both points several times, Adjusting the pedal is a pain to get to you need a 14mm spanner and a pair of long nosed pliers, you can only get about 10 degrees of turn on the clutch adjuster at a time because of the restricted space but it doesnt take a lot to make a difference. Theres a tech article on TT net.

Thanks guys will adjust the pedal tomorrow to see if this helps.

Stupid question time.

Checking the clutch fluid ?. Where's the resovior ?. Is there one or is it just contained within the clutch master cylinder ? If so can I get to this from the engine bay ?

Stu you know what I am going to say don't you bud?

However I will riisk the temptation and won't:D;)

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, I bled the clutch system and all sorts of crap came out of it. Let it settle in the bottle and there were two differant fluides one floating at the top it was green. Flushed it all out and its working fine now.
