Hi,

Just took deliver of a Blitz SBC i-d and Power Meter i-d and am currently looking through the instructions and it says that the controller will not drop the boost pressure below the stock boost pressure. Does this mean that I cannot adjust the pressure below 14psi that my car is currently set to???

If this is the case is there anything I can do to allow me to adjust the boost pressure lower so I have more adjustment .

I would ideally like to be able to take boost from 7psi or lower to about 17psi max.

Hi Zedhot,

14 psi isn't the stock boost. If your car is set at 14 psi then remove the boost jets (if that's what you're running!) which you have to anyway when fitting the boost controller.

I think the stock boost is about 9 psi and safety boost is 7 psi so you should be able to adjust your boost settings well below 14 psi mate

If you turn your sbc-id down to the minimum it runs at around safety boost level, remember you must dissconnect your stock boost solenoids though.

It's not worth running above about 14psi on stock tub's, IC's and internals anyway as this may cause detting, especially in these sort of weather conditions.

I am just about to have 2 hybrid turbos fitted and have a performance exhaust, air filter and JWE chip fitted. I am also going to be getting some iridium plugs very soon. I only want to run 17psi if I need to show another car what the zed is made of.

I am also running a fast road rebuild box from SE Nissan to handle all that power i'm putting down.

If you're still running stock IC's and more importantly stock injectors, then 17psi is very lightly to start detonating quite badly in this weather..

What boost would you recomend with the setup i am running?

Zedhot

To be honest, 14psi..

If you're very lucky you might, might be able to push 15psi or maybe even 16psi, but you're likely to start getting detonation as soon as you get a slightly worse batch of fuel, or the ambeint temps creep up.

Certainly in this weather no more than 14psi.

Especially as you have aftermarket turbos - even with stock turbo's the stock injectors run out of puff at 15/16psi tops, so if I were you, I'd stick to 14psi unless you take it to a rolling road where they can listen for detonation with a stethoscope.

14psi will be pretty rapid, afterall..

i have a very simular setup pete at SE set my car up originally was 20 psi on first run. scared the shit out of me but he was a little worried about melt down, he then lowered boost to 17.5 psi but stressed it is not for quater mile sprints just some short bursts of fun. remember stock injectors max out at around 16psi. it is just a shame they couldn't get it any lower than 17.5psi as the actuators had been incorrectly set from Turbo technics.

p.s. does anybody know if the locknuts on the actuator rods are easily accesable and adjusted from underneath.

cheers "T".......;)
