Any tips on removing coolant pipes cos I cant shift em

I'm trying to remove the 2 coolant hoses that go into the bulkhead so that I can fit a bypass pipe. However the hoses must be 11 years old and are rock solid when cold and still dont budge when hot! There is not much room to get a good grip on the pipe and I dont really want to cut them(although its going that way). Any tips on removing these hoses?

I've got a quote from Darren at Ancaster for replacing the heater matrix: £833.

But as I've just got the Z back from SE and paid £3 short of of a grand I'm a bit skint, hence fitting the bypass pipe which Darren said should be okay

Any help would be appreciated as I'm rapidly getting fed up with Z ownership at the moment frown.gif

if you took your car elswhere you would have had the remainding 800 squid to get the heater matrix fixed lol

Trey,

I'll admit I've never done a matrix on a Z, but..

If I were you, I'd cut the pipes & join them with some metal pipe.

Then get yourself some replacement heater matrix pipework and a matrix from Courtesy (or your favourite parts place) and change the matrix yourself - there's a tech doc floating about somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.. It looked like a day/two day job depending on how good you are.. But with the bypass pipe in the way - you can take as long as you like!

Az, Yep thats the pipe I'm trying to fit, the problem I have is getting the current pipes off so that the bypass can be fitted. I think I may have to cut them off frown.gif

No way I'm gonna try and fit the matrix my self biggrin.gif knowing my I'd get coolant all over the ECU and pop goes my Zed!

Cheers,

Trev

You know there's a simple answer to that.....

Take the ECU out wink.gif

Still have to negotiate the carpets mind you!

I'll admit, it's a b***ard of a job on any car..
