Hi people,

I have just had the horrible news that my beloved 300 is not going to make it through the MOT without quite a lot of work. I've basically been told that it's pretty rotten underneath and is going to need some extensive welding. I really need some advice I guess.

I have spent literally thousands on this baby, but I now being advised not to have the work done. The problem I have is that the majority of the car is good.

It has a new(ish) engine with 2 huge turbo technics turbo's, boost controller and turbo timer, new items such as radiator, radiator matrix, rear mich. pilot tyres (265,40,ZR17), discs all round. It also has a huge 125DB ICE system compromsing of false floor in boot with installed amps, custom made 2 x 15" bass box, new kenwood top of the range head unit with 10 CD boot changer and mini disc and hand made mids and tweeters all round (x4).

As you can tell, I'm in to this car. Everything that has needed doing I've done but now, because it needs welding, I can't do any more without spending a fortune.

My questions really are: Is there anywhere in the UK that I could get a reasonable price breaking this? Is it likely that someone may want it without an MOT and shjould I get the work done and just stuff what anyone else says - like I want to!

Please advice! Thanks,

Ice

Feel for you... :(

Whereabouts under the car is it rotten?

Ice,

I take it that its a UK car then if its rotted. What year, what miles etc.. Breakin has gotta be a last resort, they'll be someone who can help you out.

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Good old standard Nissan brown..... Get it fixed - if you look around you should be able to get it done for under £500. I had to have fairly major welding work done on mine at the beginning of this year - sills had been deformed, causing them to rust, then the floorpan was also affected. Had the sills reconstructed (including the inner beams) and the floor reconstructed for £360 - m8s prices though....

Like I said, shop around and it won't cost you a fortune ;)

I know someone who welds rusty cars for MOT's, and then takes them for the MOT for you. I can get his number if you want but its Aylesbury.

I had a hole over a foot long in one sill, I had both sides rewelded, repainted and stone protected for £140 (he siad he underestimated the quote though)

Where are you located? There will be someone on here that probably knows someone local to you.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm in the Tunbridge Wells area so if anyone knows of a decent welder then I'd be more than happy to go with saving it!

If I do break it........ does anyone know of anyone who breaks this sort of car?

Cheers,

z

On the subject of rusty sills, does normal jacking the car up from the sill cause enough scraping to warrant painting and re-coating the sills from time to time?
