Hi, had my aircon emptied and regassed at the weekend as it only just worked, had 45% of the amount it should have had.

But, it only works slightly better. Almost as if some valve or sensor is stuck/broken/dirty.

Any ideas please..

Had mine checked at the weekend. OK for gas volume, pressure, compressor, fuses. Blows nice hot air whenever. Been told that its probably a blocked expansion valve or low pressure valve or something expensive. Needs a proper expert to look at it.

There is extensive testing you can do with the climate control to rule out electrics, etc. This is in the online manual. It also helps identify potential areas of problem with the refrigeration circuit. I'll be trying mine at the weekend - in the meantime old fashioned A/C with the panels off..... :D

Trust they re gassed with the right stuff compatible replacement - not the R419a stuff in many cars these days.

Does the condenser - the slimmer radiator in front of the main one get hot when you switch the aircon to auto? The sight glass round by the battery - what do you see? Does that get hot? Watch can be hot enough to burn you if its working right - means the coolness is getting to the cooler inside the car somewhere if the refridgerant is pumping heat to the condenser at the front.

When you switch that aircon to auto you should hear the compressor come in, the engine speed up slightly and pretty soon smell that dry air fridge smell as if begins to chill.

thats the best description of how A/C works that i'v EVER heard!!! :D :D :D

seriously tho - if its only been topped up, I would drain it down, evacuate for about 30mins then regas, could be that air/moisture is trapped in the system.

It was done by a Range Rover garage, they emptied it, weighed the gas and then refilled to the correct amount.

The pipe gets very cold, as it should aparently, the compressor kicks in and out, but there is only a little bit of cold air, as in you can tell its been cooled, but only just, and in this heat its no good at all.

????????

What should you see in the few glass? I can see nothing, even when its been on for a while.

But its still cold air, even though it smells a little.

When its switched on you can often see fluid or air bubbles rushing by - the more air bubbles then the more it needs a re charge. If you cant see anything at all it means either its full or totally empty. They put fluorescent dye in mine so it looks blueish and helps show leaks.

There are two pipes - one takes the coolness;) to the inside and the other the hotness ;( to the outside. On a zed the cool pipe is lagged especially passing the turbo. The one with the site glass is the hot one.

You really can burn your fingers on the hot one when all is working fine.

If all that is working and still no cools inside it must mean the chiller part is maybe furred up with fungus blocking the air flow or one of the internal door flaps is closed when it should be open.

Isnt there some stuff you can get to kill the fungus on the chiller if you do get bad smells off it?
