Hi all, I have found a guy who used to work on Z's for Nissan. He does private work, now works on Range Rovers which he hates, wants £80.00 for a cam belt change plus belt. Seems to know his onions.

I will post when he's done it, about 3 weeks as he is off on hols.

He sounds too cheap to be honest. I thought doing a cambelt change is 4-5 hours start to finish???????????? and everywhere charges £250+............................................

Could be, I have not yet used him, but I met him through a friend who works with him. He does know about Z's from talking to him, and he said the book gave it about 6-7 hours if he remembered right. And he do go on about the fiddly things involved with the job...we will see.

Very useful to know. Let's have his number or are you only giving it out once you've seen his work?

I have not asked if I can give his number out, but I will, as I said he is on hols soon for a while. I will get him to do my cam belt. In passing where is the best place to get one, he did suggest only a Nissan genuine part, so he got that right.

I'm not trying to put you off or anything but would it not be a good idea to have the cambelt changed by someone your know and trust. I just think it's one of those major jobs that has horrible consequences if done wrong. And if he says it takes 6-7 hours, why on earth is he so cheap? :confused:

Fair comment, and I know what you mean, however he was doing me a favour as he is a friend of a friend..... I will investigate him further. Thanks for your opinion.....
