Well yes it was nice meeting AndrewG at Billing. I'm in favour of a club being formed but one question. To be viable we'll need more than 120 paid up members. What are your ideas on recruiting new members?

Geoff.

how many do we have now?

Well is AndrewG going to come back with some answers?

Geoff.

Geoff, for a single mark car club run on a not for profit basis by volunteers my feeling is 120 paid members is viable. I take your point that as a club we need to attract new members but we also need to retain the ones we have.

To do this we must create benefits to the existing subscribers and to prospects of being a club member.

We do have limited funds for recruiting new members. One thing I do which costs nothing is leave "Join the 300ZX.CO.UK club" notes on the windsreens of Zs I see parked in my area. If we all did that throughout the UK then I'm sure we would generate interest.

This is your club too - please suggest your ideas for club benefits and recruiting and post them for discussion.

I used to be a member of the MR2 owners club and this is exactly what they encouraged their members to do. We got a couple of flyers with our welcome pack (we could just e-mail these out) and it was an excellent way of introducing new recruits.

Thanks Andrew for your comments.

On the issue of benefits I'm certainly prepared to negotiate discounts for club members from contacts I've made and used. I'm sure there are many people on the forum would do the same. So once we're ready let me know.

Geoff.

BUT can someone answer what do I lose out on by being an enthusiast? If it means that I get restricted access to certain forums and "get lost" on track days then I would happily pay my £20 as I do now. BUT I dont own a Z anymore so I'm not allowed to do that!

Exactly! Right then I'm voting no!:p

I do not think forming a club has much of a chance if only 50% of the paid up members have bothered to vote and 10% of those say NO!

There already is the Z club, so I pressume those that wanted to join a club have already joined them.

IF Andrew et al really want to turn it into a club then of course they can, but it will only survive if with lots of enthusiatic members willing to participate in events, news letters, artricles and lots of benefits, or of course it could become a small exclusive club that would rely on the dedicated few and would become too clique!if it kept going for very long.

Keep it as it is I say, with the informal meets and the bigger get togethers as and when.

You can still ask for subscriptions to join as now and top ups every two or three years fron registered members as necessary.

Just my thoughts.

This forum is great as it is and should not get formal, with rules, codes of coduct, etc. in fact too anal!

I'm supprised that no-one has picked up on an obvious point here.

If you look down the list of so-called members to this site you will see that there are literally hundreds of us.

Now read that bit on Ajay's post again, yes the bit about 120 paid-up members.

I think it's about time we got the cheapskates to cough up! There's been a lot said on the subject, but if you've had over 50 posts, then you know the site is worth it. SO PAY UP!

I'm in full support of any action that can sort out the members from the freeloaders!

If you take the number of people with over 50 posts (remember, that limit everyone was talking about - so I figured that was a good break point to use as the point where you all think everyone should pay up or go away) - there are only 218 people..

So I think there is a far larger ratio of paid to non paid than people are thinking...

Why should anyone care what the people who haven't voted think?

Clearly they are happy to let someone else decide, if you don't like it, then voice your opinion.

Mike

For god's sake people,

If I could vote then I would vote Yes, I'm a new member and yes I'd happily pay £20!

The whole point of the club is that we look out for other members - we share experiences both good and bad.

I've only had my car since March and I don't have a clue where I can take my car for quality work, if only it were as simple as being able to rely on the Main Dealer ie: They had good mechanics with High Standards and Parts prices that aren't 15 times higher than everywhere else?

Where else can we go when we get an annoying squeak or buzz or click coming from something that wasn't there before? A main dealer wouldn't have a clue but you guys here live and breathe Z and are a great sounding board/resource!

That alone is worth the paltry £20 member fee!!!

If someone recommends a cheap place to get parts or an independent garage (like Zedworld, for example) for a timing belt change you can save well over 10 times the fee you paid out to join, let alone events and meets and the company of thoroughly nice people!!!!

I can only imagine some of the problems you have had with traders and sarky comments from users p*ssing them off, but hell they ought to be big enough and clever enough to be able to handle it, how has Kwik Fit survived? *lol*

It's nice having other 'enthusiasts' in the club like Roy, cos he represents the competition (and better still he is sorta on our side ;) ) and I am sure a few of you wouldn't mind going head to head with a Supra or two at a RWYB event as a yard-stick, ehh?

Our daily driver is an MR2 and as such I've used the IMOC web-site and if we can get half as much info as they have, then 300ZX will indeed truly be an even more powerful resource - and that in itself will encourage traders to want to do business with our members as I believe someone has already said.

With cars like the Z the more Quality help you can get, the better and paying £20 for that priviledge is a bargain!

Otherwise we'd all be driving Fords right? ()

Just my opinion from a newbie, but there's shed loads of us out there and more on the way.....

PS fly-ering other Z owners is a great idea :)

Thanks fo' reading...

Also dont forget, for that £20 you going get a discount from most of the traders in our trader section;)

This forum has been invaluable to me. That's why I paid the membership fee, because I wan't to see the forum carry on and the more money made availabe will benefit everyone.

The traders section has been revamped ... absolutely brilliant and the advice given from people has been great.

IMHO .. reduce the number of posts allowed for non-subscribed members and get them to pay up!! After all if they own a Zed surely then can afford a poxy £20.00 quid

with each £20 paid you should give free 300zx.co.uk stickers for people to put in there windows. they have to be cheap and it is a good way of advertising the club.

cheers ..lee

Quite right mate, I never voted to start with and still havent yet, if all in the letter and announcement comes good then fair play ill vote yes, but I feel we were sold the same kind of thing when subscriptions/membership started but 12 months on we're no closer as yet to being a real club.

Dont get me wrong the above may sound dead negative but id still pay the £20 regardless cos this site is a great place on the whole its a goldmine of information, it saves you money and you make great friends too.

I'd add that you also get the chance to buy parts/mods and great cars!!! :)

Now then ,Guyz, bear with me i`m new to your site and a new member ? Yeh!!!....and basically think this idea to form a club strickly for z32`s, is a good idea. With the cars being much easer to get hold of and being reasonable priced i see a good future , of people buying these cars..so new members should not be a problem... this is a great forum for all that they/us need to keep the car running etc, people talk of the behavior on the forum but you still get that in a club, its no different just a name to most people, in fact they feel there in a club of some soughts now i expect.......As for traders not going with us , well ,if there is enough of us they will want to be connected with us , they just need to be reminded of the money we are spending on these cars.:slap: .....Lets get together get behind the forum of people who give there time to do it and give it a go....Respect for the Z32,,,,, it is after all the japanese ferrari with all of its techno,,,,,,SO GIVE IT SOME GOD DAMN RESPECT and give it its own club.......£20 christ you can put that in the fuel tank!!!!!!

There i`ve said it ,,,,,, you`ve done it now !!oh s£it !!!

im voting yes i think that this club is worth £20 a year for the advice people give you. anyone who is too tight to pay up should be booted. 50 posts max without subscription and bring back hanging/my dad got on his bike and looked for work etc.:D

I'm voting YES but only if `enthusiasts` who haven't got a Zed anymore are allowed access and the same discounts etc. :p

Just because I've sold my Zed (even though my flatmate has it now - well actually Pete at PPS has it now but anyway....) doesn't mean I don't love the cars and enjoy reading all things Zed related on places like this.

It would be great to be able to park up alongside the Zeds at shows and the like, although i'm not sure how many of you would like to be next to my Corvette? :)
