Turbo Dynamics question

Has anyone any experience with the Turbo dynamics stage 2 hybrid T25.

the description is: Roller bearing turbo, high flow 60 trim compressor wheel, cnc re-profiled compressor housing, T25 left hand thread turbine wheel assembly, staggered gap / total seal turbine end piston ring fitted, 0/64 A/R turbine housing, uprated 14 psi actuator.

I am thinking about upgrading to this, with a steel flywheel and 1 piece prop.

any comments to the good or bad ??

I had two of these fitted, one went after about 9 days but its been a long debate as to who was to blame, gone past caring now as its all sorted.

Good turbos, but I am only running .6psi boost at the mo to run them in!;)

Hi Mark,

what pressure did you run them at - i am told that they will run at 2 bar - but that would be silly.

Excellant turbo's :D go for it, did you get a quote on them ?

Mark yours ain't the roller bearing spool up jobbies, you'd be in the back seat if they were :D

hi smithy,

£995 each - still negotiating fittting - one of the existing turbo gaskets has gone - it had new TB 22's fitted nine months ago but they are saying that run at higher boost than stock nulls the warranty.

giving it a bump - 'cause i'de still like some input -

mac - you anything to say?

That's quite a good price if it includes vat and delivery.

There is a little more work involved in fitting them, not much though, the oil feed pipe needs to be slightly altered and your existing turbo down pipe becomes redundant as it wil be too big/long so you need to fabricate 2 new short down pipes, in stainless it is quite easy and should cost about £60.00, ideal time though to add any extra sensors you want too.

Good turbo's with loads of pulling power, i'm running 17psi on mine no probs but i have had the air/fueling played with too.

Who you thinking to fit em ?

cheers

Oh if that price dont include VAT, let me know cos i can match it and make it fully inclusive.

HI smithy -

progress engineering built the engine so i wil probably get them to do the work - i know the turbo actuator is rated for 14psi as standard - i am going to ask them to pu a 22 psi 1.5 bar actuator on them - air-fuel shouldnt be a problem - its wazza's old car so running a mines stand alone ecu and greddy emanage sysytem - i will get progress to put her on the rolling road to map her.

i gather she comes with forged pistons as standard - progress dont recommend a different cam due to drivability - i know she has a fancy head gasket that wazza had fitted so really my only concern at 1.5 bar is oil seals.

I think ptogress is quite conservative so i'll see what they reckon their engine will run.

oh yeh - exhaust is ****ed - need a new one - toooo many speed bumps.

should be spectacular whenits done though.

Alex

No commment!

"i gather she comes with forged pistons as standard"

nope......standard pistons are not forged and won't handle much more than around 14-16psi from these turbo's.

Its better if you have the acuators set at at around 0.8 - 1bar max and then use a boost controller to setup and increase boost. You can then also run low boost for wet weather etc.

And...you don't need high boost pressure once your into 4th / 5th gear. 21psi under load at high rpm is asking for trouble because you will generate too much heat and melt something!
