Whilst mucking about removing the vaccum pipe from my AIVs came across an unconnected rubber hose at the back of the engine. Heater matrix has been bypassed, fair enough I thought a job to do.

On closer examination the pillock who done it has used one of the heater matrix pipes as a bypass. Due to the fact that it is formed to shape, it has bent almost closed where it has been forced on to the other side.

Apart from causing my engine to run hot, which it does, I cant think of any other problems. Anyone ?

Obviosly am going to rectify it tomorrow :D

jock the pipe been bent as you describe should not be problem, the feed and return pipe into the heater matrix are part of a branch in the cooling system not a main feed, when fitted correctly the heater matrix is shut off anyway when cold is selected on the heater controls so the same thing applies then.
