I've just installed one and when wired to the +/- teminals, the needle just goes straight to the max and connecting the sender unit wire makes no difference at all. Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Vijay, try puting an earth on the signal input to the gauge, if it goes to 0 then sounds like you have a wiring / sender fault. To test which you have, short out the sender wire at the sender to earth and see what happens if shorting out the wire makes the gauge read 0 then its the sender.

Are you going to Billing?

Good luck

Paul (SparkZ)

Thats normal.

Have you started your engine?

Mine the needles goto the top when I put the ignition on.

Vijay did you sort this as I've just put one in and its doing the same.

Sorry mate, never got round to sorting it out :(

Vijay

where abouts is the sender unit on the engine?

Which one? Oil or water?

When you get an after market dial you get a new sender with it which you should use. The oil you can just do a straight swap as the thread is very common. The water you have to have tapped into the radiator water pips.

Oil pressure gauge. Got a sender with it but had to re-tap thread, but that wasnt a problem, put inplace of original sender. Needle just shoots all way round when ignition switched on and starting the engine doesnt help either. New boost gauge is working fine though.

Filthy.

the oil pressure sender
