Hi all.

I've taken delivery of my 3g 20GR's and my Mintex 1144's. Now then, any ideas which way round to fit them? Agressive way round or not. Much difference in wear or performance?

Cheers,

Matt.

Aggressive way round! Much better braking, yep it wears more and it makes a nice sound, but at least it brakes!

I went non aggressive, I'm a peaceful kind of guy! Still makes a good noise when you brake hard and stops real fast too.

My theory was that non agressive with the spiral trailing was better for cooling as the air flow wants to go out the way away from centre as the disc passes thru between the pads. The aggressive way means the spiral is trying to pull air back to the centre which seems going against the flow to me. I can see it being more aggressive on the pad in cutting effect like a cheese slicer when fitted aggressive way round. Cant see any better braking effect on the aggressive way round other than the rasping of the pad!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Aggressive :D

Your turning into Nelson. Next you will have theories about the pattern changing while you are driving ;) :D

Wrong time of the month Stuart;)

Rubbish my theory by all means with a considered technical argument, give constructive criticism - I can take it. The accumulated knowledge we all get grows with it and we can all learn then.

I hope I have a little appreciation of engineering and my theories are not quite that way out!:)

I agree with willie on this one - the grooves are there to disperse the brake dust & for cooling, not to chomp away at your pads!!! the braking effort still comes from the clamping force of the pads on the discs

That's 2 all for agressive / non-agressive.

Hmm.

I've had a quick look through my copies of EVO I've got here at work and most seem to be agressive, but I suppose they would be for maximum breaking effect in a roadtest.

Ah well, I may bung them on agressive to start and monitor the wear rate.
