Hi Peeps, Got my car back from PPS yesterday and had no problems with the car. It needed a jump start but after 300 miles the battery was fully charged :D.

This morning it doesn't want to start. It turns over fine but just doesn't fire.

ConZult Error shows all clear (55).

I'm in the process of stripping the coil packs down to check the plugs.

Any other ideas of things I can try if I don't find anything ?

Fuel?

Just yank the pipe off after the filter and see if there's any in there. Be careful, might be under some pressure.

Ok, got all the plugs out nad checked for corrosion. The plugs were a little sooty so I gave them a clean and put them back in.

Checked the fuel filter and got soaked. plugged it back in agian and turned the ignition on, listened for the fule pump. Checked again, got soaked again. So that fuel is getting there.

next I checked the PTU, all the connections are in place and secured firmly.

Gonna pull a coil and check the spark now.

Right, the car has now gone from trying to start to sounding like a machine gun

I'm thinking I may have run the battery down with all the attempts at starting the thing.

Any ideas ?

I assume your traction control isnt keeping the injectors closed for some reason?

(That is how the unit works isn't it? if not ignore this :p )

If it was a plug gone down I suppose it would start but on 5 aswell......? Charge the battery up and see what tomorrow brings!!

I had the same sounding problem on my old 200SX!!

The wire to the alternator had gone green and needed cleaning up, re-soldering and putting back on as it wasn't charging the battery at the correct rate, soon as it ran out of umph the lights dimmed and the car sounded terrible, mis-firing etc....

And I also manged to blow a fuse, but that was my fault as I touched something with something else and that lead to something which caused the fuse to blow! (£29 from Nissan!! biggest fuse on the car!) :D

Anyway, check what your battery is charing at whilst running.....worth a check....

Matty.

I was running the car connected up to the Bemma earlier (i.e. jump leads) and it still wouldn;t start, so I don;t think the starting problem is the battery. However I think I have run it down in the meantime.

Idoubt checking your gonads for corrosion will help my dear boy, however regular use will help keep the rust off them!!!

if it sounds like a machine gun and teh boost gauge bounds up and down that is a drained battery,

sorry i cant help with the more serious problem

well I've just been speaking to Sparks and he says the same so you may be on to something Mike.

Will swap it over with SMW2 tomorrow and see what happens.

Swapped batteries over this morning.

The machine gun starter motor has gone away but the car still does not turn over.

Gonna check for a spark once I've fully charged the battery.

Getting a bit worried now that she won't be going to Billing :(

Do you mean does not turn over or does not start ?

Check the earth lead from the battery to the body.

Dunno what it is about PPS, reckon Peter must run all his electrickery off people's car batteries, because they always come back knackered ! LOL ;)

Nah - it's just because he sticks the MIG earth onto the -ve pole of the battery... :D lol

maybe unlike a lot of garages he secures the cars when he's done with them ;)

I know a day working on my fixing the windows and central locking and testing i drained the battery pretty quick

Sorry this was meant to read, it now turns over but doesn;t fire (i.e. start).

Earth lead is fine.

Stu mate

Just a shot in the dark but did you say you had it chipped when it was away. Nothing gone wrong there is there?

Have you checked the imobiliser on the alarm?

that would let it turn over but not start.

ChrissyP..

Fell free not to listen to me as I know nothing about cars but....

Had a similar thing with my s13, not sure what it was but I left the battery disconnected for an hour, after that it started ok with a little coaxing.

I guess it was either a fluke or something had just been reset.

Well got it going today.

Sparks and Mike were closest followed by Macca.

The Battery was weak leading to coil pack faliure which meant that the injectors were firing but the plugs were not. However when although the battery was charged the car would still not start. There was a spark from the plugs, but there was too much excess fuel in the chambers to allow a spark to ignite.

So took all the plugs out, cleaned them and put them in the oven for 15 mins on gas mark 6 LMAO !!!. Nice and hot, put them back in place and the car started first time.

Apparently the plugs fire better when hot and the heat also helps evaperate the excess fuel. Top tip that one.

nice one stu - glad is running again

SYAB (see you at billing :D )

Well done!

I hope you didn't get any fuel on your new paint job:eek: Saying that, if they've used two pack laquer, which they undoubtedly have, then it should be fine. :)

Well done mate - SYAB!

Well, its fooked again.

Had one day of it working and now it's decided to pack up again.

Tried it this morning and it didn't want to fire. Fitted a brand new battery, then took all the plugs out, cleaned them and put them in the oven (well it worked last time). 15 mins later I got them out fitted them back in and still had the same problem.

Not sure what the hells going on but it looks like the car won't be coming to Billling unless I can get something sorted rather quickly.
