what are these for

anyone know what them parts are that sit behind the front wheel wellbehind the plastic cover ,they hav a pipe goin in to them from the exhaust. as i am taking the cats off would this setup be needed or can i do away with it all.

    They are air pumps that pump air into your cats so when you back off the throttle so you do not burn out your cats
