An ex-girlfriend suggested I should get one ater getting 6 points in 2 months!!!

I've got a Snooper S1 (cost:£89). This is pretty much the basic model, but I wouldn't spend £2-300 on a more 'advanced model'.

The S1 picks up all types of radar, and notifies you within a 1mile radius. The more expensive models have a longer radius, which actually means that the device is beeping at you for longer!!!

A 1 mile radius is ample as long as you check your speed as soon as it starts beeping.

The S1 was discontinued because of the number of complaints they had about how poor it was.

Hardly suprising Stu, mine never stops bleeping even in the absence of speed traps.

Oh yeah, it interferes with Sky Digital signals too

Do you know these Lazer defusers, do you know what they infact are and how they found out how they work.

They are the same system which is used on automatic garage doors and gates which open when the owners cars drive up to them. Some one some how, found out that cars with these units on confused the detectors.

I have them and they are fantastic, wouldnt drive a car fast without them. mHow many times have they saved my arse!

Some one was thrown in prison for having one though. :(

They detected he had one because the radar gun would not work at all with it as he forgot to turn it off. The new ones now scramble the gun and then turns off as to not to rise suspiction, but its enough time to slow down.

Hi Chris

I've had the Bel Euro 550 for about 18 months now. I've had two other models previously and it's the best one I've used. It's more expensive than some but it's totally configurable (even down to disabling certain frequencies if required).

Excellent product with good range and UK compatibility. You can get them from Bel Direct on the net for just over £300 - http://www.beldirect.co.uk/bel550.htm

Also, Jaffa is selling his here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20636

HTH!

For over 300 quid I'd reccomend a GPS based unit with all the camera locations loaded up, like the Road Angel. No false alarms, only warns when the camera is facing your direction! Personally, I don't think there is any point in detecting laser guns, once you've detected it, it's probably too late, a laser defuser is best!

Word of warning. Radar detector not are legal, radar jammers very illegal. You will be charged with obstructing the course of justice which is serious.

Be careful. Or just dont speed ;)

Or another alternative is vote Conservative LOL ;)

Stuart

Get your facts right before you post would be a good idea. Radar detectors are legal, HM Gove keeps saying they ae going to make them illegal but not yet.

Costco do the Origin Blue (?) GPS for just under £200.00 plus VAT. You need to be a member but I am and I bet many others here are. Dont know if it does all traps, you need to check.

I'm pretty sure radar DETECTORS are not illegal - as you are slowing down for accident blackspots (not revenue makers - apparently)

Laser DIFFUSERS are illegal as you're stopping the police do their job

James

They became legal, if thats the term, when someone took their case to court and challenged the law and won. About 5 years ago now I think.

I bet blair will make them illeagl when he can becasue he hates anyone not towing his line. But they have been threatening to do it ever since they lost. So who knows?

They are only legal in England and Wales. To become legal in Scotland someone would need to take another test case through the Scottish courts.
