If anyone's interested in the 4 page ROM's as Si talked about, I've managed to do one with a 1001.

*Should* work, but not tried it yet because I ain't got no car to put it in!!

Just stuff your adapter in the programmer socket, then program 1/4 of the 1024Kbits (256Kbits) at a time.

Smart arse! Never thought of that.

Oh well, nearly done the prog now. Got some validation & stuff on it anyway to check all the code versions are the same

Tested this today on Pete Shrimp's car and it works OK, switches maps on the fly no problem.

Slight downside is that the car dosen't stop when you turn the ignition off :o I suspect a diode or 2 may be required but can't see where at the minute! Any ideas?

LOL - John has mapped the first ECU turbo timer. Except without the shut down bit at the end ;):D:D

Big thanks again John for all the help today :D:D My car really does fly!!! :D

Does it work OK with a standard EPROM? Just seems a bit strange because the exact same thing happened when Pete fired up my car after the rebuild... it'd run fine but wouldn't shut off! The only way to stop it running was switch the ignition back on, then it stalled!?! Pete thinks there's something up with my ECU because the car's fine with a replacement.

Haven't tried it yet, just put Pete's back in.

Will try it with a standard chip.

I sort of thought maybe something I'd done was holding a voltage rail high when the ignition was off, but don't see how as the only one I use is the socket one???

Suspect maybe that ECU is a bit dodgy - it did take a hell of a whack in the crash after all. Or maybe my lack of static precautions have zapped it!!!

Was it your original ECU that did it? Just wondering if there are maybe pinout differences with man/auto?

We could be talking about different problems of course, but yes, it was my original ECU (from my auto) that used to work fine, but now has the problem. That had an SE programmed 27C256.
