Well, I'm busy drowning my sorrows. I've managed to kill my zed. Coming off a roundabout on slightly wet roads. Guess I must have been a bit enthusiastic with the power. Lost the back end, tried to recover it but didn't have enough space. Hit the railings with the front, span and clipped the back too.

Haven't had the chance to fully check out the damage yet but it looked like front & rear bumpers, both headlights, air filters/fan/radiator & god knows what else under there, bonnet, and front wings, tailgate & rear off side. Looks like a write-off :(

Trying to be philosophical about it. I guess any crash where no one is hurt is a win of sorts but still absolutely gutted. I had such big plans for that car...

Anyway, I learned a hell of a lot about cars in the short time I owned and tinkered with it (although the last lesson was a bit harsh  ) and that's mostly down to the info and advice given on this site. So thanks for that. Perhaps its time to start saving for a TT Manual now!

I'll keep you posted as to what happens to it. It is/was a '90 Jap spec N/A auto that was absolutely sound mechanically so there may be some decent pickings for the vultures out there.

gutted

Sorry to hear about your accident David, the main thing is you are not hurt. Hope you're back in a Z very soon.

Dave

condolences -

i wrote my zed off a short time ago but life has a funny way of working out - just bought myslef a beauty from warren, so ive gone from mourning a loss to honeymoon in 1 week.

i hope you not too long without a zed

Regards,

Alex

:( Gutted for you.. :(

Main thing is that you weren't hurt, but I know how you feel. :(

I know exactly how you feel:( I wrote off my grey 1992 TT by spinning in the wet (into an oncoming car! ) I hope to god you're fully comp, as I got a much better condition SILVER 1991 TT when mine paid out:D

It's a bitch at renewal time, by hey, you know you just love these cars so it has to be done.

Now I guess you've got shed loads of forms to fill in, but chin-up, you walked away, got a good pub story, and an opportunity to get another one!:D

Feel for you mate, thats a harsh lesson. Glad to hear no injuries and like you say any accident without them is a win of sorts.

Good luck with getting a replacement and hope you are back on the road soon/

Gutted for you mate.

Good reason for Traction Control. On your next Z (if you get another one, and if this is a write off) make sure you get it.

Condolences, David. If it's any consolation, a friend of mine had something very similar happen to him, except he also took out a few illegally parked cars on his way to a standstill - his car looked like a wreck and the insurer wrote it off, but the chassis was sound and he got it repaired for not a massive ammount of money. Good as new.
