It is almost insurance renewal time, and I want to try and find a really good deal as in the past, I have not really had much choice...

My current car is a 1989 N/A, standard save for modded tailgate panel. I have had this for about 2 months.

Prior to this I had a N/A GTO and the insurance company have simply transferred the certificate at no extra cost.

My premium for this current year is just under £2000.... This was due to 3 accidents in the past 5 years (1 in 2000, 2 in 2001), just 1 year NCB, and a slightly undesirable postcode. plus 6 points on the licence for speeding.

The situation now, is the same, save for 2 years NCB and a more desirable post code.

Anyone with similar credentials paying substantially less than £2000????

have you tried adrian flux insurance, he quoted me £730 on a1989 twinturbo for uk car and £1300 for import. im 26 and didnt declare any ncb with 3 points for speeding.

sounds a bit shitty but tescos r cheap. an one of a few companys that insure imports.

You could also try Tett Hamilton as they were one of only a few companies I spoke to who would entertain a modified import TT

try lifesure

Bizarre - they wouldn't even quote me - 29yrs 3 points 3 years NCB. How's that work then? Or was that for an NA?

(Wouldn't even quote for unmodded UK spec - this was before I bought a modded J-Spec.)

I'm with Privilege. Hyperformance came up with a much better quote (1050 TPFT) but mysteriously forgot about it two days later when I phoned to say yes, and then refused to insure me at all until I was 30. With modded cars it just seems to depend who you get on the phone!
