Evening!

 

Having just renewed my insurance (Tescos...) - I now have to get a tracker fitted.

 

Does anyone know anywhere who supplies and fits a decent, cheap hopefully :), insurance approved tracker, thats not too far from the Midlands to travel to.

 

Tescos recommended 'RAC Trackstar', and 'Tracker' systems, amongst others.

I've just had NavTrak installed. Not particularly cheap, but a damn good system and has more recommendations than Tracker.

 

I know people who have had Tracker installed and they are not impressed with NOT getting a phone call if their car moves without it being de-activated. Everytime my car has moved without it being switched off, I've always had a phone call.

 

The chap who did mine is actually on another BBS that I am on and he is organising a group buy with the BMW forum, so I'll ask if you can hop on too, if you like.

 

Also - they come out to you to install it at your convenience.

 

AND it is transferable between cars.

Tracker has the highest recovery rate of any tracking device - period.

 

also many insurance co's insist on Tracker (because of this)

Is yours a UK Z? I know they want a tracker on Jap ones, but do Tesco want them on UK one too?

 

 

RAC Tracker and Tracker have advantages and disadvantages.

 

 

RAC use GPS to track the cars, and any one with a GPS system will know they dont work if their is no clear view of the sky. So it wont be detected in a garage, under bridge or even if you are driving down a road with trees over head.

 

Tracker use moblie phone signals from to track. This will work through walls an such but some parts of the country still dont have moblie cover, but only a few very remote places in the mountains.

 

 

Its up to you which you get.
