I would say this is very bad.

Erm VERY VERY bad!!! Just don't do it ;)

My mate had a mitsubishi gto twin turbo auto, and he used to do that, until one day at the traffic lights when he blew the transmission and it cost a massive 1000 quid to fix. I really wouldnt bother if i were you!

LMFAO Good ridance bwahahahahahahaha :D

I had a 200SX S14a Auto before graduating to a 300ZX TT Manual. Imagine my distress when I just couldn't provoke the cursed thing into a wheelspin from a standing start at all. Foot to the floor, overdrive off - nowt! Miserable! Faster, probably, but still miserable!

It never occurred to me to put the transmission into neutral though - that's just weird!

Russ.

It is possible to wheelspin the Auto.

Put into 1st or drive, hold down the brake with left foot, put your foot on the loud pedal, once you get to 2500rpm or so and just over half boost the car will start to move and wheelspin.

It ****s your brakes and autobox (autobox will cost nearly £2k to fix) so I wouldn't advise doing it.

Mine survived the one time, but I will avoid doing it again.

Here's the video, consider it a how "not" to launch guide ;)

(It knocked about 1 sec of my 0-60 time)

Eric,

thats the same as the standard stall test for auto boxes tho isnt it? That doesnt do any harm so im told.

Perhaps with a turbo engine tho.... its not advised lol

Its ok for testing, but the oil temp rises fast, Fookin fast. If you have a temp gauge on gearbox, just watch that needle rise faster than the fuel gauge drops. ;) :D

'Course it is  Where does the thing about autos not wheelspinning come from?

Mine does it no probs in the dry - unless the road is perfect, dry, flat, no loose bits - even then with the two foot technique it'll do it. The trick is making the wheels *not* spin, in the wet ;)

Yep ;)

Don't know about that ;)

In the dry the car can sometimes start snaking at the back in a straight line when I'm giving it some real welly.

In the wet it happens so easily it scares the shit out of me  ;)

Yeah I know what you mean. I picked up my zed from the garage last month after some work, and gave it a bit to much off a roundabout (getting away from one of those droptop Maseratis ;) ) on the A5 in the wet.

I didn't even realise I had lost grip until the car was going forwards at a ridiculous angle  and the revs rose a bit quicker. Backed off and she straightened up  with a wiggle. Very forgiving.

I think it looked like I meant it LOL :D

LOL :D

I can only usual tell when the back end starts snaking down the road like a pendulum!

It has always straightend up so far....

I shit myself cos one day I may not be so lucky.

It's hard though, one moment you're minding your own business driving down the road, then turbos get into positive boost and without warning it's like bare back riding a well lubed badger!

;)
