Well boys and girls, after nearly 2 years of Z ownership, by baby let me down and it was all due to me putting off some regular maintenance that I should have asked Jeff to do before Xmas.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the fan belt snapped, the dash lit up like a xmas tree and before I knew it, the temp was going through the roof. Managed to pull over within 5 seconds of noticing the high temp so I hope nothing else is broken or bent.

Funny thing is, just before I pulled over, I spotted something fly out behind me but thought nothing of it. Opened the bonnet and it wasn't till I mentioned to Jeff over the phone that there were funny strands everywhere that he said "Is your fan belt still there?" that I noticed a shed load of strands around the neck of the fan and the realized that what I saw behind me, was infact the belt making a sharp exit.

After arguing with the recovery guy(after the initial visit from the RAC) I managed to arange for the car to get taken to Zedworld. I thnk Jeff finally took receipt at about 9.30pm.

N.B. I have been a memebr of the RAC for the past 5 years and whenever I have been without my car, I have never asked for the free hire car(purely cus' I never remembered to) so decided to ask this time. Got a phone call back after 10 minutes saying that there was a car available for me at Derby, However, the flat bed driver would not drop me off so I had to catch a train and then a taxi. I'm sure they should have taken me so will be speaking with the RAC shortly.

Anyway, let this be a lesson to you all wondering whether to go for some toys or a good service. My zed is normally completely up to spec when it comes to maintenance but obviously the anciliaries caught me out this time. NEVER AGAIN!

Happy Zedding!

I didn't know about the free car hire either!

Hope there's nothing else broken or damaged bud!

I`m sure Jeffer will fix any ills

One thing for sure though.....I have never enjoyed driving a car so much and have never been so paranoid about it. Working it out I have made Jeff change the oil three times in the last 2000 miles and harangued him into performing a FULL service only 8000 miles after Nissan screwed up my 60K

These cars are just like a wife...apart from the fact that they will screw around with you about 3000 miles sooner if you know what I mean :D :D

Im changing the my membership from the RAC when its up for renewal. When I broke down the woman on the other end of the phone refused to accept that a Chorley Road existed in Horwich where I broke down. She said I must be wrong, dispite me being broken down NEXT to the street sign which said Chorley Road. She couldnt find the A6 on the map either. FFS its a roman road. There has been a road located there for 2000 years and she cant find it? Also when I described what happened, stalled, lights came on, loads of loud pops and a little bit of smoke out of the exhaust, she put it down as an exhust problem.

Does any one know what happened with the RAC and Little Chef? You used to get 15% off when you showed your RAC card, but you dont any more.

I have a similar problem with them when the wife broke down a few months ago. They have a shite map system but their policies are ok.

Isn't there only a Chorley New Road through Horwich?

Well maybe Zeds and the RAC should be a new post!

I had a few years ago a very bad experience with them. I had to wait from 1am to 8.00am for them to rescue me in London because they coudn't get a flat bed! I waited all night but they did pay for a cab to get my wife back from London to Welwyn!

I complained in a lengthy letter. In the end they cleverly gave me 6 months free membership!!

I'm still a member of the RAC funny enough!!!!

Yeah that is where she put me down as. Chrorley New Road was about 3 miles away. I told her to look at Horwich, West Houghton, Wigan, Black Rod none of them had Chorley Road. But when the person who came to pick me up phoned me asking where I was. He knew exactly where Chorley Road was.

I don't know it all that well as I only lived round there (Lostock, just off Chorley New Road but further towards Bolton) for a couple of years, but my parents still live there.

I know there is one in Blackrod though, because that's where my Mum works! :)
