This is going to cause a big debate with all the engine nuts!!!

The most up to date belief is that as close to the throttle butterfly as possible (ie inner on your photos) is better. There are theories that back up just about every possible location. The close to throttle does seem more logical to me, but hey thats just me.

Hope this helps and dont forget to block off the original valves.

Peter at SE told me the same,so I wonder why Blitz fit them on the outer ones?

Oh and thats my car LOL mac001.jpg

Why I´m asking is that i´ve seen a lot of cars that has placed them on the outer ones, and I´ve also heard that it´s good to be rid off the air pressure after the turbine ...

MAC1 nice engine bay :) wher have you buy the fan cover:rolleyes:

I dont know which would be better for venting from a mechanical point of view, but ive heard you get the best sound if you put it directly before the IC.

The theory around having them close to the throttle is to use the capacity of the intercooler and pipework to absorb the pressure pulse behind the throttle butterfly when you let off the throttle. There is a slight delay in the valve opening and the extra volume between the compressor outlet and the throttle body acts as a sort of cushion, in theory being less violent to the compressor. Also the theory follows that if the turbine is still spinning (which it should be because of the BOV) and the BOV is open and venting this air flow, when you then open the throttle there is less of a volume to fill and thus reduces lag slightly. Phew, thats about it!

So all in all there is a practical reason for having them close to the throttle body.

Paul (Sparkz, sorry Nerd)

Sound is not the reason for bov's, its to stop the turbine from shattering to a thousand pieces and as a bonus, reduce lag. oh and they can sound beasty too.

Paul

I wondered about fitting them, cos I like the idea of more noise from my already ridiculously loud zx!

Seriously though, my car makes the most delicious burbling overrun cackling noises (specially when I lify off the gas in a tunnel!:D )

Will this effect be reduced by fitting bovs?

Well, as soon as you lift off the gas is when you'll hear the BOV's, so guess for the first half a second you will have both noises at once!

you will end up with a pssshhh burbly burbly crackly noise.

Looks like I'd better add them to my list for Santa then!

:D :D :D :D
