i understand your reluctance to post previously, but had you done so and explained your side to the episode, then it would have been easier to moderate future posts.

 

i'm a firm believer in 3 sides to a story, as Ajay does, and until you hear 2 sides and have the chance to work out your own middle ground opinion, then it is difficult to stamp out one side or the other.

 

the childish antics of a lot of the forum members never ceases to amaze me, and if that were grounds to moderate people, then we would probably be a quieter forum than zclub... ;)

 

now that both of you have offered your versions, then future references can edited and the curious can be told to search.

Jeff...I can't say for what went on before. I *can* say that if I see threads escalating into a war of words again, I will lock that one...and the next one...and the next one, until we reach a state where this forum can have a story like "Garage X did such and such and I'm unhappy" without the braying of hounds.

 

Vinz has an issue with you, that much is plain. But is slanging him off on a public forum really the way to go to promote your professional image? Would that not put off some newbies thinking that if they *do* take their car to you and it goes wrong, that you'll be all over this forum calling them names and dragging their personal financial information out for all to see?

 

Vinz is as entitled to his opinion as you are yours. He is also entitled to voice that opinion as you are yours. People do have a right to know that things have gone wrong.

 

However, they have a right to know the FACTS, not name calling or supposition.

 

 

 

Slanging matches are what is dragging this board down. If you have an issue with someone, I suggest you mail it privately.

 

If you had a problem with Vinz and his comments in the past, there was always a "Report to Moderator" link - this can be used by anyone.

 

Alternatively, take the higher ground and ignore it.

 

Emotive posts are all well and good but they seem to escalate into 3 groups extremely quickly :

 

1) Jeff does useless work and I'd never use him

2) Jeff does stirling work and I'd never use anyone else

I've kept quiet up to now, but no longer. Jeff, I think your personal attack on Vinz was absolutely disgusting. Yes, you may both have a problem with each other but under NO circumstances should you, as a professional, bring up personal circumstances to defend your corner! I'm abolutely fed up to the back teeth, that no matter what happens, the sun still continues to shine out of your rear passage in the view of some forum member. I'm also sick of the way people think you give them this FOC and that FOC. Shit happens, people do favours for other people. As soon as something is said against Shedworld, half the population of 300zx.co.uk pops out of their hole and says how you picked them up from the station yada yada yada. So what??? I have yet to meet a business who doesn't go out of their way for their customers, apart from maybe Nissan or Halfords. There is still an outstanding situation with a car, which I have seen, has work claimed to have been done and which has been charged for, which has obviously not been done, yet the slightest mention and the usual croud shout out! Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but FFS don't go blurbing out their personal problems (if at all they have any - from what I've seen of VinZ, and I've met him enough times to know, there is NO way on earth that the guy has any problems either financially OR in his relationship).

 

Don't even deserve a CheerZ this one :(

Personal attack? If you remember Duffers, I started the modest thread, and Vinz came along and decided to have a pop at Jeff.

is a person not allowed to defend themselves. Jeff has taken enough shit over the past year from many people, and whether anyone agrees with me or not, I think he has been well within his right to defend himself the way he has. Maybe a forum is not the right way, but if acusations are made on the forum, then he should atleast be allowed to tell his side via the same medium if he chooses to.

 

In the end of the day, Zedworld is Jeff's livelyhood. If I was in his shoes, I'd have probably done the same. I assume that you have a 9-5 like myself and working on Z's is work on the side for you.

Hmmm I thought working on Zeds was a hobby? Apart from that, I still don't see why the remarks about VinZ's personal life were relevant? Jeff's post, IMO, was purely visious, nothing else. Trying to shoot another member of the forum down for trying to get, what was in his eyes, a fair deal - which we are all entitled to, is not on! After all, where does zedworld get most of its customers from?

I have had no dealings with Jeff, so have no opinions either way on his work.

 

I will say on that thread, both parties seemed to give as good as each other got.

I've had no dealings with Jeff either but IMO Vinz's post was petty and rude. Cos posted a nice happy post (which we need more of round here) and just because it had the word "Jeff" in it meant Vinz posted some spiteful, completely irrelevant post.

 

Is it going to be the case that everytime the word "Jeff" is said vinz, or someone else, is going to do exactly the same thing, even if the original post is something like " I like Jeff's new haircut?"

 

 

Also just aminor observation, and this aint no dig cos andy's advice is great
