ROFL :D

Naughty boy Stuart!!! 4/10 Must try harder. :D

I sit at just under 100mph, speedo is probably out anyway, I feel comfotable at that speed and its not an instant ban if im caught,

Although on the m25 and a13 when its 3 lanes and clear i feel comfortable at 120mph

Anyone with a zed who claims not to speed is bullshitting, if I wanted to drive around at 70mph on a motorway I would have stuck with my first car.

I agree with breaking distances though, remember there are still cars on the road that are 40 years old used as daily drivers, although these probably stop quicker than a zed with stock breaks ;)

I know some traffic cops that like nothing more than speeding around europe on fast bikes.

I would be a liar if I said I didn't speed, after all why would I have bought a Zed if I didn't like a bit of the fast stuff.

I do agree some speedlimits are fairly pointless tor me, because I drive at a speed I know is safe for the weather, road and traffic conditions.

But not everyone is sensible enough to drive safely so speed limits are an essential thing, to protect them and others around them.

So the way I see it is I feel free to "bend" the speedlimits when I know it's safe, but if I get causght I'm not going to bleat on about unfair speedlimits, hidden Police etc, because I was knowingly breaking the law.

My tough luck.

But I learnt my lesson when I nearly got caught doing 128 in a 40 zone during a race!

(It was late at night and it was a dual carrageway, it was also stupid.)

But it's amazing the effect blue lights in your rearview have on your future speeding ;)

OMG!

128 in a 40 zone?

What happened?

To be truthful I have been pulled over by the police for going round a corner too fast. I wasnt braking the speed limit just I was going to fast for them. But they where 400 yards away when I went round it so god knows how they knew how fast I was going. They must be able to read my speedo from that distance. LOL

I remember when they pulled me over and asked if I didnt feel my car sliding around the corner.

Does this look like a car that understeers at 30?

Why didn't you just drive off? You obviously weren't doing anything wrong :D:D:D

Going round a bend too fast is not safe! infact it is very irresponsible what if a child was crossing?

Hey Mac I never thought of that - VERY good point!!! Stuart I'm dissappointed in you!!! :D

It was stupidity, during a race.

Obviously not going to go into too much detail as I got away with it and have thanked God everyday since ;)

The road was easily fast enough for those speeds, just I was getting to the limit of my nerves but it was one of those situations where you don't want to back down, usually before it gets anywhere near suicidal speeds I back off but not this time.

Let's just say, the police didn't go after me but they did the other guy.

Since then I have found my right foot is much easier to control.

Scared me sh*tless!

What would the child be doing out at 2am?

You can see all around the corner from the as it is really small infact they made it into a mini roundabout now. There are no trees, walls or bushes obscuring the view of any one walking down the path and for pedestrians to see a car coming.

So the only child I could have hit would have been invisable and out at 2am. If that is the charge? Guilty!

I can also stop for this invisable night walking child a lot quicker than people doing 100mph on the motor way.

Stuart

come on guy's, yes we all speed but you have to have a bit of common sense with it.

keep your vehicle legal, no probs there then.

untaxed usually means uninsured and if you are one of them then sorry but you deserve everything you get delt in life,a disability would not be too much and if caused by an unisured driver then tough.

as for motorway speed limits yes it is conservative and no there are no pedestrians to run out in front of you but i have had too many rep cars, old people and nova / corsa twats pull accross lanes in front of me causing emergency braking which can be slow in a z.

also the point that the 70mph speed limit was only introduced after cars where producing 100+bhp is rubish, yes when it was introduced the average car could only just break it but it was introduced as a direct result of AC taking the piss and speed testing the shelby cobra at 165mph up the new M1.

Dont forget the motorway speed limit, cars coming on to the motor way are only doing 40mph until they speed up. Not all cars can go from 40 to 100 in less than 8 seconds. Some take 30 seconds or so if they want to get that speed.

Plus the most efficient speed to drive at is 50-55mph and people drive at that speed because its cheaper. You cant have cars doing more than double that speed. If a car doing 100mph hits a car doing 50 every one will be mangled. But if a car doing 70 hits a car doing 50, there will be carnage but every one should be fine.

Erm, isnt Carrol Shelby a yank and didnt he do most of his testing (in them days) stateside??

I was of the opinion that it was the E-Type that did over the tonne and that was the cause. Them old boys used to get on the M1 and give it some!!!!

Nick

Was so gutted when I saw an E-Type roadster that had had a coming together with an old Nova on the M6 last weekend.

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

What mark of E-Type was it? The later ones which where aimed at the US market just totally ruined the car.

LOL :D

That's the problem with a Zed you have to slow down when you reach the end of the slip road or you'll start undertaking all the motorway traffic ;)
