Ok guys I have done 376ks before the light came on, filled it up with 96 octane i took, 61.43 litres (till I could see the fuel)

I think this works out to 233.6 miles and 13.51 gallons and this means I have been getting 17.29 miles per gallon, is this alot or quite normal? btw Car is off to Nissan on monday for the 4th time in 2 mths!

This works out to be around 17.4MPG - not too bad really!

Convert K to Miles - 376*5/8=235

Convert L to Gallons - 61.43/5*1.1=13.5146

Work out MPG - 236/13.5146=17.4 (ish)

Quite easy really smile.gif

You cant say if that is normal or not. It depends on how you drive. Did you thrash it? Are these all motorway, mostly motorway, all town? What?

If that is all town its about right.

If you have done quite a lot of longer faster runs like motor way, its not so good, but will make up for it if you have a heavy foot.

Stuart.

P.S. Is there any way to find out if my petrol light is working. I have never seen it on but many times I have had the petrol gague in the middle of the E.

For the light to come in mine, it has to be exactly on or lower than the red line!!! Sometimes a hill 'may' trigger it early.

Bilky - have you got my number? if so can you give me a call? I have something for you smile.gif

how much is the uk spec dashboard

Mine's a '92 import and I reckon the light comes on when there's about 10 litres left in the tank.

Uk spec dashboards tend to be about £100

dead easy fit takes half and hour and all works first time.Since my last post have looked at one of my old Jap dashboards and found that the fuel pump symbol does infact have bulb illumination (thanks Craig) I am going to check if Jap spec loom connecter has connectins to it as there are some differences. me thinks i don`t know it all redface.gif Jeff TT

well im after a uk spec clock face and all anyone know where i can get it from>?

My '91 Jap Z's fuel light is the petrol pump symbol and comes on when on/below the red line.

Usually takes 60 litres to fill up from this point and with a 72 litre tank that means theres about 12 litres of reserve.

Most tanks you can not empty because the fuel pipe stick up into the tank so all the debis from the fuel settles in bottom of the tank above the file pipe so it does not going to your engine

Yeah, I can confirm this. I just left it a bit late and had to put over 67 lites in. The car was cutting out under acceleration and I was beginning to shat myself. I haven't checked but I would guess that the fuel feed is at the front of the tank.

The only way to check MPG accurately is to fill up to top-out, zero your trip meter. Use car, do plenty of miles. Fill up to top-out again(preferably at the same place), record mileage done. Divide litres by 4.5461 to give you gallons. Divide mileage by gallons = MPG.

BTW Mine does at least 20 miles when the light is on before running out.

Grant

Yeah, mine does 35, but I wouldn't recommend it !

I created an excel spreadsheet that calculates all this crap for you. If anyones interested I'll put it up on my web space.
