Where can I buy a SE chip ?

 

Is it only avalable from Silvia Engineering ?

Their chip should /only/ be available from them. If you get it from anywhere else it's a pirate copy.

(They did have a web site, and about 18 months ago, but it disappeared one day. They kept saying, "Ooo we're designing a new one", but it never appeared.)

Methinks it's SE that are taking the piss charging £££'s for an 'off the shelf' chip that costs about £5 and a slightly modded code.

The only justification for charging big bucks for a modded chip would be if the chip was custom mapped to your car on a rolling road.

 

A 'pirate' copy will do the sme job as an SE copy, in the case of copying an E-prom as used in the 300ZX, a copy is a copy is a copy!

£125 is not bad to say that Peter did all the maps himself check out how much JWT charge for one that gives less power!:rolleyes:

Fair point , obviously you are paying for the development costs of the maps so it's reasonable to charge a decent price to cover costs and make a profit. Problem is that once the chips are in the public domain they are very easy to copy for next to nothing.

LMAO yeah and some companies who will remain nameless copy them, sell them as their own developed code, and sell them for £350 - this makes me ANGRY...... funny how people still go back for the same shafting but hey, it's their money.....

i have it on tape somewhere, where peter is demonstrating how they map the ecu, and mid sentance he says "hmmm im not sure what this map does, so we will leave that one alone" lmfao he filled everyone with confidence that day lol.

I have a copy and paid £10 including chip, code copy and postage. There are always people out there trying to make a few bob, fair enough, but £340 is disgusting IMO. :( :mad: :(

LMFFAO i forgot to say, granted the chip is obviously working and does show good results, who the hell is charging 340 and for what chip?

and actually fair play to them at the end of the day if thats what people are prepared to pay then thats how it works i suppose.
