Heard some shitty rumours last weekend about the F1 cars and the Diablo GT being Cut form the UK version due to licencing problems -recon it was crap tho as it hasn't been mentioned since!

 

MGS 2 - i have the latest build ( no you can't have a copy! ) and it is looking very polished now I recon you will see it in the Japanese shops around end of October early December - depending on the Chain stores Lead times in Japan - they will leave it as late as they can i predict.

 

X box Test kits - we have had one for a few months now - even tho the X box title we were working on (Race Nation) has since been canned ( pitty as both my Z and Clio were featured in it ) - Yes they Blue Screen a lot and Yes they are HUGE !!!- I wouldn't hold your breath untill that console gets a decent user base !

 

Max Payne is looking Awsome too - the E3 demo they did took the piss out of the early stuff - altho the Res of some of the shots were questionable !?!?

I've got GT3 and the wheel pre ordered for Friday morning.

 

In case anybody else works in the West End (Regent Street area), the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe headquarters in Golden Square have lots of GT3 simulators set up (with wheel/pedals/seat etc). Guess what I've been doing at lunch ;-)

Nico, been doing some research and I'm pretty certain that the Diablo GT is not in the UK version but that the F1 cars are. The Lambo was meant to be raced in an Italian Exotics race with some other Italian supercar. This has now become a single manufacturer/model race. With the F1 though, there was a 10 race championship that they would need to remove so I think it less likely. Fingers crossed. The UK version is also missing a new Acura car (not the NSX) which is in the US version.

As usual Jap. land keeps all the best bits!!! F**kin' 'ell, by the time we get it here the only cars left in will be British ones. So you won't have a Bentley Continental Turbo, negat. Rollers, Mini's etc. Not even a Reliant Robin coz they're stopped making them too.

 

I don't see what the problem is, if I was Lambo or Ferrari etc. I would have thought that the best advertising and highest acolade to the marque would be having your product in GT3 or any game for that matter. Seeing as Hollywood can only churn out shite from games nowadays, obviously that is the way of the future!

the reason you don't see Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo in GT3 is that they all have exclusive deals with other software houses. The GT3 people can't approach them at all. They got around it for Porsche by using Ruf as a way in. I was hoping they would use Koenig as a way in for Ferrari but it appears not.

 

One of the rumours for GT4 (not GTN which is next) is that it will feature all these manufacturers in some way or another.

Personally I think all computer games are a complete waste of time, but I suppose they're a reasonable way of educating programmers to write efficient code.

 

Aside from that, saw summat on TV a day or two back that involved Jensen Button flying off to some software company to test a new racing game. It would seem that the lap time he put in on the game was VERY close to his real time on that track - RESPECT to the programmers !

Just booked my copy for Friday

 

So we will all mostly be playing GT3 over the weekend then...I've got my home phone line back on so MSN'ing will be a green light!

Tooley - damn right, Elite was one of the greatest games there has ever been. I was a bit dissapointed with Elite 2. I played Elite (and got up to Elite) on 3 different systems (BBC, Amiga, Acorn RiscPC). I never get tired of that game.

no way is jeff minter a goner he was cooollll.....i was that bad with comp i had a spectrum atari st and an amiga all at the same time.....i went through three girlfriends in one year because of my obsession and then saw the error of my ways and just started seeing the girls from work problem solved.......i'd have another st anyday but the amiga was always too finnicky......anyone remember oids on the st the best thing i ever saw on the amiga was the imperial walker demo near to the end of the amiga's life

If Jeff Minter is dead i did far too much Acid last month as i was Talking to him at a Retro Conference in Brum ( wolly Lama sweater manky ass beard the works ) - He is as alive as ever and working for VM labs who make a DVD / simple games system unit - he released a version of Tempest 2000 on it.

 

Unless he was malled by one of his Lamas between then and now i reckon he is still breathing.

Found an interesting post on a PS2 list from a couple of yanks playing GT3.

 

It appears that if you can get this little lot together:

3x PS2s

3x TVs

3x iLink cables

1x iLink hub

3x GT3 game

 

you can:

a) play 3 player full screen (it allows up to 6 player btw).

BUT, more amazingly (if it's true)

b) you can set up an arcade style one player game where the front tv looks forward and the other two look left and right!!

 

Don't know if it's true but it'd be damn cool (and expensive). I'll give it a go with some mates in the next week or two and let you know whether it works.
